John Mayer is a one in a billion generational talent. After deriving his inspiration and influence mostly from BB the king of blues. You can clearly see why I say what I say.

His songwriting ability is unlike any other. He also mentioned in an interview about one of his albums "sob rock" that when he writes he completely locks in and almost changes who he is.

I first encountered Protoje when he had done another song with another successful reggae artist, Chronixx His music to me is quite inspiring. I, being an artist found solace and peace in his music. His way of creating and writing music is one for the books.

Protoje infuses hip-hop and reggae to make a sound that not many people have been successful with. Collie budz is one such artist who was a part of Protoje's influences.

Stevie Ray was an American musician best know for being a guitarist.

When John Mayer was first learning how to play the guitar, he had come across Stevie Ray's music on a cassette tape.

After hearing Stevie' Ray's music, he fell in love with the way he played guitar and wanted to be exactly like him, so he picked up the skill.

After learning this new skill, Mayer admitted to mimicking his singing style after Stevie Ray. especially in his vocal tones. (Ze, 2019)

Jimi Hendrix

Mayer was heavily influenced by the late great Jimi Hendrix. In that what he does when he plays the guitar.

Just like Jimi, Mayer adopted double stops, notably heard in songs like 'city love'', ''vultures'', and ''slow dancing in a burning room''.

He also loved to mix between the use of chords and scales.

He is also known for using studio effects in his recordings, but they were not as prominent as the way Jimi used his.

In a piece that John Mayer wrote, he mentioned "Hendrix invented a kind of cool. The cool of a big conch-shell belt. The cool of boots that your jeans are tucked into." (Jimi Hendrix by John Mayer, 2010)
