My eyes sparkled as I marvelled at the little clear plastic box with its glittering gold mechanisms. A tiny handle protruded out, coaxing me to turn it. With dewy eyes, I played the little music box. I turned the handle, admiring how the gold parts started to spin, playing the familiar tune of ‘la vie en rose’. Amazed and fascinated, I spun around and asked the shop staff to get me a new music box. It costed me $30 but it felt so worth it to spend on such a beautiful and lovely music box. The shop keeper came back with the unopened music box, reminding me that no refunds were allowed. With the excitement of a little child, I nodded, payed for the music box and went home, ecstatic.

When I got home, I immediately set everything down and opened the white paper box which contained the music box. Carefully, I took it out and examined it. It was just the way I saw it at the shop! Thrilled, I started to turn the handle. To my horror, the tune that came out was not ‘la vie en rose’ , but an out of tune, jumble of notes that sounded like it came from a horror movie. I stopped turning the handle, speechless. I can’t believe that I had spent $30 on a music box that was broken and out of tune! Then the shop keeper’s words came flowing back to me. Devasted, I stared into nothingness, thinking of the better things a could have spent $30 on.

The queue was around the block. I brought a little frail chair to sit on. The ecstatic people in the queue looked around to one another with a child-like facial expression. The long queue led to the famous 5-star restaurant that had opened a few days ago. The starved and the stout all came to give their stomach a treat. I sat overjoyed on my pathetic little chair which had red and white stripes all over it. I brought my plump wallet full of money to spend which will leave it slender after eating the 2-course meal. Time flew when you are waiting for a mouthwatering meal. I was next. Electrical currents flowed through my veins.

Ah lian sat excitedly at her table, chattering away about the order she had just placed for a hand drawn commission from a talented artist that she had found online. The piece was to be huge, a lovely charcoal drawing of her favourite character from a television show. She had spent weeks saving up for the piece, pleading with her mother to help her place the order.
"It's going to be right in the middle of the wall above my desk!"
Ah lian was ecstatic, the piece was due to come in about a month, Ah Lian's brother, Ah Long, rolled his eyes and turned towards us.
"Do you guys want to know how much this dummy spent on that silly scrap of paper?"
Our group of friends nodded enthusiastically, waiting with bated breath for Ah Long's answer.
"She spent 200 dollars."
All of us backed up, eyes wide with shock. 200? On a drawing? Ah Lian groaned.
"It's hand drawn! I think it's worth 200 dollars. Not to mention, it's huge!"
We all crowded closer around Ah Lian, warning her not to make the purchase. Ah Lian scoffed, and waved her hand dismissively.
"Too late! I already paid over paypal. It'll be done by next month!"
The days flew by, and we all watched Ah Lian slowly deflate, hope diminishing. Ah Long always snuck dissappointed glances at his sister from across the classroom, clearly dissaproving of her impulsive purchase.
"They stopped responding. They won't let me take a refund, and they won't send me the drawing."
All our friends stopped what they were doing, and gaped at Ah Lian.
"What?" We all said in unision. Ah Lian's voice shook. "I said, they left me hanging. They won't let me have a refund, and they won't send the drawing over. They've gone MIA."
All of us murmured. "200 dollars is a lot. Are you okay?" Ah Long shook his head.
"I told you so. It's your own fault for not wanting to listen to me."
Ah Lian burst into tears, standing up abruptly and sending her chair skittering beind her with a screech, before sprinting out of the room.

I texted the seller asking when she could pass me the tickets and she requested for me to use paypal and i agreed to her offer. After transferring the money to her , she accepted my deal and said that she would meet up with me within 2 weeks and after hearing that i was thrilled and delighted as i could finally meet my idol group after waiting for 3 years. Few days before collecting the tickets i texted the seller to question her when i could meet up to collect the tickets but after waiting for her reply for a few days she did not respond. i was petrified and i bit my lower lips to supress my trepidation. A plethora of wild thought of me getting scammed went through my head and i was terrified i stood rooted to my seat while calling the seller many many times but to no avail my efforts were futile. i was grief stricken as i had beeeeeeen cheated. I told my sister what had happen and she told me “Told u and u didnt listen and now u even got cheated.” I was crestfallen and i hung my head low in dejection as i could not meet my favourite boy group and even got cheated of a large sum of money

As I opened the bag she handed me, I immediately recognised what was inside. It was the black bag that I had been eyeing for over two weeks now. I was ecstatic, the black smoothness of the bag and the gold chain hooked on it looked absolutely brilliant. It looks even better now that it belongs to me. However, the more I scrutinised it, the more I start to notice the tiny things that were not as obvious as before.

"Wait a minute...” I muttered under my breath. I grazed my finger against the small indent on the previously ‘smooth’ surface. I frowned and had even glared at it but soon after I stopped as I noticed the other small imperfections on the once gorgeous bag. It was not as perfect as I thought. However, I had to continue smiling as if I was thrilled with the gift. After all, it is a gift from a friend, a gift that I had been longing for.

My eyes widened in pure delight as I scanned the dull cardboard box that sat on my bed. After I had seen the figurine online, I knew I had to get it. It only took a few weeks of staring outside, waiting in anticipation for the delivery man to come and give me my box of goods.

When it finally arrived, I jubilantly took a small penknife and gently cut open the box, making sure that I did not do any damage to the goods inside. As I took the figurine out of the box, my heart fell. I squinted, scrutinising the item in my hands. “This wasn’t what I bought.” I muttered angrily. The shining and detailed figurine that I had seen online was most definitely not what I had gotten. I let the figurine fall onto the floor with a loud thud as I felt the joy and excitement drain out of me. I was soon filled with deep regret and disappointment. I should have expected this from such a suspicious website.

Thanks Ms Kwang

I could not help but be ecstatic when I had stumbled upon an online website which sold figurines of video game characters, I ended up coming across a figurine that I had desperately searched for months now.

I took a minute and scanned the item, taking a few moments just to stare and admire the precious figure plastered on my screen. I hastily gripped onto my optical mouse, dragging my cursor onto the “ add to cart “ button, creating an obnoxious thud sound as my elbow accidentally knocked against the concrete wall beside me.

I jumped with delight, I had finally bought my dream item! I hummed random songs as I cheerfully wrote down the date of the delivery, I only needed to wait one month. It was gonna be worth the wait, and worth my hard earned savings.

The day had arrived, I picked up the package and dashed back home as fast as my short legs could carry me. I plopped down the brown box onto the living room floor, grabbing the penknife I had prepared beforehand, i gently cut open the box.

I frantically removed the bubble wrap which prevented me from reaching my new prized possession. That was when I felt it, the plastic box which was hidden inside. I hastily pulled out the plastic box, overjoyed to finally receive it but, I felt my heart stop as I saw what I had received.

The figurine inside, it was not what I had ordered. Not what I was shown. It was a disgusting, terribly made, fake China branded lookalike. I dropped the box in horror, did I just get scammed? I glanced back at the box that felt as if it was glaring at me, taunting me even. I decided to double check on the website, this must be a mistake right? I quickly searched up reviews and only to be horrible ratings and complaints on the website, how people were scammed and ended up wasting a lot of money on fake products. I felt so disappointed and never wanted to purchase anything online again.

On the day of the concert, I was elated to get into the concert hall and could not wait for the concert to start. As we were waiting for the guards to scan our tickets, there were a few people that could not get in as their tickets were fake. It was finally my turn and i waited impatiently for the guards to scan my ticket. The guard scanned my ticket several times but it could not get through, sweat started to drip down my forehead and I felt a cold shiver in my body. The guard declared that my tickets were fake and forced me to stay outside. My heart sank and I was worried I could not get into the concert hall after spending $250 on the fake concert tickets. When i went back to find the seller that i bought my tickets from, i could not find the seller and desperately asked the website for help.

I stared at the Apple website for a long time and contemplated whether I should get the newest Apple Watch that caught my attention for the longest time. I had wished for it but it was too expensive that I can afford it. I continue scrolling the internet, I then realised that there is a website that sells Apple watches at a really cheap price. I hastily tap into the link and and immediately purchased it. One week later I received my Apple Watch, I opened the package. Stunned, it was not what I was expecting at all, inside was just filled with layers and layers of wrapping paper. Where is the Apple Watch that I bought? I thought to myself. I was at the brink of crying but I told myself that what has happened has happened already. Nothing could change the fact that I was cheated.

“Are you sure? What if it is a fake account made by a police officer? You will get caught!” My friend warned me. I did not heed her warning, my finger hovered over the checkout button, hesitant, but I steeled myself and clicked.

My heart started to palpitate wildly in my chest. Had I made the right decision? It was very expensive, not to mention, illegal. I wrung my hands into the pocket of my jacket, my friend noticed and questioned if I was alright, I nodded quickly and gave her a small unassuring smile.

The following day, I lazed in my room awaiting for the arrival for my package. I heard a knock on the door and sprung up, expecting my package. My father padded out of his room and answered the door, pulling it open. Instead, I peered out from inside my room, expecting to see the delivery man. However I was shocked to find two police officers instead, gesturing at my father and I could vaguely tell that they were questioning him.

I took a second glance and nearly choked on my bread as I was munching on it, I could not believe that the musical I favoured most was coming to Singapore. I instantly jumped out of my seat and squealed in anticipation, oblivious to the fact that I was making a scene. I gazed at my screen for what seemed like eternity, pondering whether or not I should I click on the ‘confirm’ button. After a few minutes, I had finally made up my mind. My thumbs were trembling from my elation earlier on as I discreetly clicked on the button. My heart hammering against my chest, eyes fixed open, not staring at much.

I paced around the train station platform, waiting for my golden ticket with sweaty palms and beads of sweat coming from my forehead profusely. I grinned from ear to ear like a five year old on Christmas morning feeling nostalgic. Time dashed past me unknowingly that I was waiting for something non-existent at the station. From that moment on, I knew my precious gem that I had desired so desperately were never going to make it to me. It felt like one of those anti-climax scenes in a disappointing film. My heart sank into my abdomen as I dragged my feet back home, regretting my moronic decision.

On the day it self, we hurriedly slurped our ramen noodles and made for a dash to the convention center. When we got there, there were many dazzling decorations put up all over the event area that many people were gazing around with astonished looks while taking photos with the decorations.

"Are you done yet?" My aunt screamed into the phone, shattering my eardrums without a second thought. "Not yet... not yet...I will get back to you soon." The line went flat.
I suspected that it was a fluke. This car dealer is just a scam. After contamplating the pros and cons, I decided to tell my Innocent aunt. Without any eye contact, I muttered "It's so obvious. It's a fake." "WHAT?" My aunt snapped." "The car dealer. He.....he..is not speaking the truth. He may even be a scam....." I muttered. My scary aunt is no joke.
Upon hearing the works from my mouth she broke down in tears. From that moment, I knew she was hoping that I wouldn't say such a thing as it would break her internally. But I went through with it and shattered whatever that's left in her. Well, I hoped that at least, she learnt her lesson from hastily picking such a weird but cheap car dealer.

I was slurping my mocha frappe while waiting for the bus to arrive. I was enjoying the peace till my phone decided to destroy it by making a horrible and outrageous sound. That sound indicated that I received and notification. I decided to ignore it and continue devouring my heavenly drink. However, the sound kept on dinging for five whole minutes. When I finally decided to open it to stop that peace disturbing sound, I was astonished by what I saw. It was the most gorgeous thing on earth. It was a beautiful Gucci black leather bag which i wanted for a very long time. It was being sold for $50. I knew it was too good to be true but I decided to buy it anyways. Weeks passed by, I was anticipating for that parcel eagerly.
