There are countless advantages that this type of technology has brought throughout its short-lived relevance in the modern world. One example of this is the time and space savings it generates. Honestly, this is the best thing about taking classes online, since you don't have to worry about getting up 2 hours before arriving at Tec. On the other hand, since there is no one person reminding you what you really have to do, you develop skills yourself. Exemplifying the above, you become a little more responsible with what you do and deliver, while always looking to improve what you do. To conclude, my perception is that working in this way you can exploit your own skills, although, the counterpart corresponds to developing skills in your environment that can hardly be achieved online. 

Cons- 

Many people consider online classes to be one of the greatest advances in this pandemic; however, they are not without their share of disadvantages. First of all, you are forced to stay in front of a screen for long periods of time with few breaks. Sometimes this is one of the biggest consequences, but there are also factors such as sociability that are hard hit. Being virtually connected there is no way to interact naturally with someone else and most of the time this results in slower learning. Finally, and as a student I can affirm it, the technical problems. Most of the time, when there is an internet or device failure, the understanding of the class is hindered and sometimes put at risk. 

Recommendations- 

Truthfully, I loved how the teacher handled his class during the pandemic, as he made it more entertaining and interactive than many of my other school guides. He has been one of the few that has let us have an asynchronous class, and that is completely appreciated. Despite all he has done for us, I would recommend making at least 2 days mandatory to turn on the camera, as most of my classmates I have never met and may never meet because they are 6th semester. From then on, I consider him to have been the best English teacher, a great person and an excellent friend. 

Keep it up, even if you think we are going to forget most of what you taught us, we will keep most of your knowledge. 

About how you can improve online classes is a bit complicated, but not impossible because last semester I had the best English teacher, her name is Ale Bonilla and I never had the opportunity to meet her in person, however, she let me many learnings and without a doubt I consider her one of my best teachers. What she did was that she explained the subject to us with a presentation that she herself made and practically forced us to take notes because she made us upload photos of our notes to the portfolio, at first many students may not be satisfied, but it is one hundred percent sure that it works to improve your learning. She also always gave us guides for the quizzes, miderm and moc, she put links to all the sections even speaking. This helped us a lot because the people who did it received extra points, so you forced yourself to do it, but at the end of the day it helped you to get an excellent grade. 

I am aware that many students did not like the idea, even I hated it at first, but after time I realized that she was doing everything to benefit us. Finally, I think that you should try at least a partial and see if the grades of your students improve, so you know that you are doing something good for them

Online teaching

One of the pros of virtual classes is that you save time because you don’t have to travel from home to school and spend so much time in traffic. This allows you to do other activities, such as sleeping or exercising. Likewise, being at home allows you to discover new skills or abilities without taking care of school.

One of the cons of this new modality is that we can no longer see our friends and teachers. Although in this modality we can attend the class better, I feel that the way of learning is not the same. Also, the level of demand has decreased, and I feel that we don’t prepare ourselves equally. In addition, the time we are sitting in front of the screen is too much and sometimes it is very stressful.

Based on all the technological resources we have and the pros and cons of virtual classes, to improve our learning I would recommend the following:

Personally, I am a person who gets very stressed if there’s no order in the class. If we see topics of grammar or vocabulary, I would prefer to use some digital tool that allows us to have clearer the topics. For this, we could use videos or dynamic explanations where there is a real interaction. 

In general, I think the class is very good, but it could be improved if we had more theoretical content given in a dynamic way. Diana Cristóbal.

Pros:

The Pros of having online learning certainly is the opportunity to have more time to sleep or rest, in general you have more time to do other things you can’t do while having presential classes, you can organize yourself and your schedule better, you have a double opportunity to learn things in case you don’t understand or miss a topic during class because you can watch the class recording, your are safe and not daily exposed to Covid or any virus, you can improve your grades and have the opportunity to have more time to deliver your works and projects on time and to finish the pros section one of the pros I really like about online learning is that I spent more time with my fam and having more free time. 

 

Cons:

The cons are also a lot first of all lets talk about the one that more affect me personally which is that I can’t practice basketball with my teammates, I really enjoy playing basketball an this online learning is so hard because this sport is a team activity and can’t wait until we go back to face-to-face learning. As the const motioned before there are a lot more const of online learning as: we are all day long watching a computer or our phones either to do homework or just to entertain ourselves, our activities are all sitting down and watching someone talking thru a machine, we get distracted easier with technology or anything in our houses, I really miss my friends and you know socializing with people around you, they leave more homework and is funny because we are all day long at home which means we don’t stop using our tech to make things school needs is so hard and trying and to finish we stop walking and making the exercise we normally do before the pandemic which means bad habits and a danger to our health. 

 

To be honest I think you’re making a great job with teaching us by a online platform, every time you’re are trying to makes smile with jokes and that energy that really represent you as teacher. However I also think you can try increasing the theorical classes because we need that knowledge for exams or quizzes even though somehow we already know what we are going to learn because we have already saw it in past semesters.

Pros: 

To begin with, by taking classes online we use our time more efficiently. We don´t lose time moving from our houses to school and vice versa. Continuing with this idea, we have more available time for both ourselves and school, which has a huge impact on our grades. In my case, I´ve been taking classes online since High School started, so I can´t really compare, but my sister and all her 6^th semester friends have improved their grades since moving to online classes. 

Cons: 

On this side, the biggest con is probably the social part. It is way more complicated to meet people online. My generation, in specific, has never met in person, so even if we know each other, we can´t really set a bond between each other. Now, there are other cons like motivation loss and lockdown anxiety. Most student have lost that sense of responsibility due to the pandemic, and just apply the rule of the least effort. They do as less as they can. Other students can´t hold themselves locked, so they try to get out as much as they can, exposing themselves. 

Recommendations: 

Honestly, I really enjoyed this class. What I recommend is to change the routine as much as possible while using other resources. I think Quizziz is a really great tool in order to change the routine and review topics at the same time. I´d say it´d help the class keep its dynamism. 

 

With all this crazy Covid stuff going on I think it was a smart move that schools decided to do online classes since it is much easier for students that live far from the school and now they don’t have to wake up so early. Also because if you are hungry you can just grab a quick snack and keep going while paying attention to class. Another advantage is that you can hand in projects at the time you are more comfortable and there’s Canvas to help and remind you of these.

 

However not everything is cool since some of the Cons of this are that you can get very distracted by things you find in your house, or if they neighbours are noisy, there’s not really something you can do about it other than maybe telling them to stop. Another issue are the internet failures which can make you miss all your classes and get bad grades.

 

It has been well managed in my opinion, however I think it would be cool if you set a time for when we can turn in the assignment, since it can get lost in announcements and I just think it would be easier if it was in the “To Do” tab.

 

In my opinion online classes have given us the opportunity to improve in school as you have more time to do activities and also to organize yourself better. You don’t have to waste time moving to school and instead use the time to do more activities. The online classes gave me the opportunity to take many LIFE classes, as the schedules are more comfortable and of course the classes are also easier because they are recorded and if you have any questions you just have to see the class again.

Although online classes have positive things, they can never be the same as face to face classes, as they limit our communication and socialization because it is very difficult to make friends in online classes. It’s also easier to distract yourself during class because you have a lot of distractors around you. In terms of health, online classes also tire of sitting in front of a computer all day.

I really liked the class throughout the semester; however, I would have liked to see a little more vocabulary and grammar. I would also recommend using more platforms like Quizlet and Kahoot to make the class a little more entertaining.

In many ways, online learning is one of the many changes we had to do due to the covid-19 pandemic. Although it was difficult to get used to, today I can say online learning has a considerable amount of pros. First of all, taking classes in the confort of your home is something you can’t compare with a classroom. Furthermore, taking into a count my own experience, I can say that I pay more attention to zoom classes than in normal classes, this is because in face to face classes I was constantly distracted because I was always talking with my friends. Thereupon, during this last year I have raised my global average considerably. 

All things considered, online learning also has cons. Starting with the fact that you have to spend at least more that half of your day in front of the computer. Moreover, due to the fact that all of the works, projects and homeworks are delivered online, you get mentally tired of doing it, you lose motivation and, as a result, you start to deliver thing just to get them done and not because they are complete and well done. Not to mention that in online classes the academic burden is much higher. 

Altogether, in order to improve the online learning experience, a good teacher is needed. It’s not just about a funny or cool teacher, a class were the teacher explains in a dynamic way and get the students point of view is essential for this type of classes. Additionally, empathy on both sides is also something indispensable.

I really am very comfortable with the dynamics of the class, I simply think that the teacher should implement new activities with some apps that help us understand the subject in a more fun way so that the classes are more enjoyable and help us interact with more people in the group. I really liked the times we worked in kahoot, I think it would be a good idea to work with quizizz, quizlet, etc.

Regarding the fact that we are in a pandemic situation, everyone must take precautions in order to keep ourselves safe from getting infected. In the case of educational issues, students must take online classes, so they can balance their studies with their daily lives. Although this can lead us to a great change, this can also mean a more efficient way to keep our educational life going on. Not only can we easily manage our time and academic schedule, there are no problems in getting to our subject’s sessions by just sharing a code or an online classroom access. Secondly, we get to use more efficient learning compounds, such as platforms’ lessons, online games, etc. Even though we can’t have a physical face-to-face conversation, we have other resources to communicate with each other. These can be through emails, messaging apps, video calls, and so on. For this case, people are now capable of recording their own online meetings, saving messages and keeping information in safe apps. 

However, there are also some disadvantages about this issue. Even though we don’t have any problems with learning, there are a few points that make this strategy a little difficult. Perhaps we have gained more freedom and easiness for our classes, but there are some problems with communication between people. Since we can’t have the same old learning system, some people may have become a little quiet and reserved. For instance, if there is an online team trying to do a project, there won’t be a great communication or conversations. Also, there have been some issues in which having online classes makes people tiring, since there aren’t many activities or movements applied during a class.

 

I think the pros of online learning is that schools were able to find an alternative to don't stop classes. Besides that, it allows the teachers to do dynamics that would not be possible or at least would have not passed to us if we had been in the face-to-face mode. Such as having classes with other groups, other campuses, and also having a better facility to go to talks given by the school or the dynamics of break out rooms.                                                                             Cons:                                         The biggest cons that exist in the new online modality are that we no longer have the same kind of contact and conection with our classmates and teachers than face-to-face classes.

In addition to the fact that I consider that now we are more likely to be distracted by the people who live with us, the objects in our house or our electronic devices. All this causes that we do not pay as much attention and that we are not as concentrated as we would be if we were in a real classroom.                                                 How can this situation improve?                                               

I think teachers could organize more dynamics that force the students to be focused to the class. For example kahoots, padlets or games that are entertaining so that classes does not feel like a great obligation. Besides that the techers gave activities with a shorter limit of time.

We can get to sleep a little bit more, some of us can have a better organisation so we have time to work out, we do not spend some unnecessary money in food, you get to spend more family time, you may have discovered some passions you didn't knew you had.

Cons

A really important one is that sometimes the internet connection can be unstable or sometime the light went off, also it can be difficult to stay focused on the class and not get distracted. Also some people have the things more complicated because all the family is in the house and there can be a lot of noise. Finally our our back can hurt us and our eyes can feel tired.

Teaching

Alex was my teacher in first semester and comparing both semesters I don't really see a difference, he's a really good teacher that explains well and gaves us good activities.

·        It is easier to organize your time. 

·        There are a good number of tools for a better learning experience at your reach. 

·        You work on an environment you are used to, and you feel comfortable. 

Cons: 

·        It is easier to get distracted due to the easy access to distractors. 

·        It is harder to make friends. 

·        You become very dependent on electronic devices. 

Improvements: 

·        More dynamic activities to have the attention of the students. 

·        Questioning random students about the topic to ensure they are paying attention. 

 

Pros: I think I just found few positive things of the online learning, and it is that we can wake up later, because in school we used to wake up one hour or more before starting your first class, depending on the situations and where you live, and in online classes we can wake up literally 2 minutes before the class starts. Other one can be that you do not waste money on food, you have everything to eat in home, and in my case I have been eating healthier. 

 

Cons: Not having physicall contact with your teachers or friends is the worst thing in this online mode, you can laugh anymore with your friend or make a joke with your teacher, that is so sad, I think you learn a lot less in online mode because we get distracted so easily and we do not pay attention. 

 

Finally I just wanted to say, thank you Alex for being my teacher, honestly you have been one of the best teachers in this three years, you are one of the few that left something special on me and I really appreciate it, the way you give the class and how funny it is it is just something different. 

 

I think you can improve your class in focusing up a bit more in the subject we are and practice with excersises, because I think I did not get really well many subjects as I did when I was you student in third semester, beside from that your class was the funniest I had in this online mode, you are great Alex, I will miss you. 

Pros 

I think the pros of taking online classes are that we are able to take classes in the first place. If this pandemic had occurred a decade ago, we would not have been able to take classes across our computers because the technology of those times was so limited. Another positive thing about this modality is that we can wake 5 minutes before a class, so we don't have to worry about being late or waking up two hours before our classes.  

Cons

In my opinion, there is more negative stuff than positive. A lot had problems with their internet connection. It isn’t important if you lose it between classes, because the teachers understand those problems. But the real problem is when you are at an important exam that can’t be postponed, so you have to check if your connection is right or assume the consequences. The long amount of time in front of the screen will make you have headaches, red eyes and a lot of stress, so you have to check that too. Lastly, distractions are one of the worst cons, if you get distracted with your phone meanwhile your teacher is explaining something, there is a high probability that you wouldn’t understand the theme you are seeing.

How can my teacher improve?

I think the only thing I’ll like to improve is the organization for delivering work. Is that sometimes we have to deliver in Whatsapp, others by Google, and also by Canvas. It’s so confusing and it would be great if we only deliver by Canvas all the activities. But that is the only issue. These classes were great, especially the ones that included geek stuff. I learnt a lot and improved various aspects of my level of english.
