I worship a good nights rest or an occasional nap, but I made it through the first week. Even though waking up was hard, the moments I got to spend with myself, finding a calming state with in, made my days run so much smoother.

Through out the last week, beginning my meditation, I realized I always find that my mind tends to take me to the outdoors. I seem to have steady, smooth, and slow breathing when I am picturing myself under the pines, or somewhere up north. The relaxing state of just being, and realizing I am only a small spec on this earth and yet if I play my cards right, I can make a huge difference.

I spent the last week in Tampa, Florida. I did not follow my daily routine. Instead of getting up earlier than normal, I meditated at the beach once I had laid my towel down and relaxed. Although, I did not spend every day at the beach, I still felt rejuvenated. At the beach, I laid on my back, arms and legs spread out, and I would belly breath. Inhale and exhale. On wednesday, my meditation resulted in me falling asleep in the sun. I have the (weird) tan lines to prove it.
Meditation is becoming a habit. On the plane ride home, we experienced some extreme turbulence and I found myself taking deep breaths. I recalled back to relaxation techniques I have learned, and I slowed my racing heart beat.
Meditating has helped me connect with myself a lot recently. I am thankful for this assignment and a new understanding on wellness.

Hi padlet, it has been awhile. To update any readers, my life has been crazy. CRAZY GOOD!

In the past, I have suffered from depression and have recently been diagnosed with anxiety. I struggled throughout high school and freshmen year of college was better, but not good enough. I was struggling with the change in life style and I questioned whether or not I was ready to be on my own. I missed my family (my support system) like crazy.

Sophomore year has been a totally different story. Here at UWRF, you are required to live in the dorms for your first two years. I was not ready to live and take care of my own house at the time so I was thankful for this requirement, but now I cannot be more excited to have a house and my own bedroom. I want to thank my professor, Dr. Barrett, for assigning this journey. In the beginning it felt like somewhat of a chore.. having to document my feelings towards mediation and yoga. But now it is so natural that I find myself forgetting to post to my padlet wall. I meditate multiple times a day. To calm myself down, find stress relief, or day dream. I do yoga whenever I have free time. Normally it takes place in the mornings, but I will do it after soccer practice or a hard workout as well to recover and minimize lactic acid. Although I am self taught, I have been taking a yoga class on thursday mornings offered on campus.

I am so in love with the ideas of self love, empowerment, and body positivity that are followed by yoga and meditation.

I have learned a lot about myself through out this process. I learned that I love and value my alone time, I love the idea of being spiritually connected with myself (even though others may find it "weird" or like I am trying too hard to be "hipster". I love feeling connected to my body and being in control of each movement. I also learned that many people who do not practice yoga or mediation either sexualized it or knock it down. Many people say yoga is not a good way to exercise. After falling in love with my practice, I find that statement to be false. I cannot count the amount of times I worked up a really good sweat
