Well a big birthday - as they will be 50 years old. The Lions will be adding their 50th celebration theme into all their events. The Awards are made up of 4 categories: <br><mark>The Landscape Award</mark>, sponsored by Hastoe Housing, is for any initiative, large or small, that utilises or protects countryside features whilst enhancing our green spaces. Examples could include repurposing derelict land, community gardens or managing public spaces for biodiversity.</div><div><mark>The Sustainable Communities Award</mark>, sponsored by Newbury Building Society, is for any development, scheme or project that actively works to implement a sustainable approach. Examples could include<strong> </strong>projects such as development of buildings, infrastructure, facilities or landscape in rural or urban areas.</div><div><mark>The Grassroots Award</mark> is for anyone acting on a countryside issue that is relevant to their immediate or local area. For example, this could include conservation projects, work on recycling or anti-litter initiatives.&nbsp;</div><div><mark>The Environmental Education Award</mark> is for projects, schemes or initiatives that connect people to the countryside through teaching and learning.          <description><![CDATA[<div>For a number of years, Action Hampshire has run the<a href="https://actionhampshire.org.uk/get-involved/networks-and-forums/hampshire-leadership-forum/"> Hampshire Leadership Forum (HLF)</a> which ensures Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) sector representation on various county-wide boards, eg Hampshire Health &amp; Wellbeing Board and Hampshire Safeguarding Adults Board, as well as representation for key areas within the community, eg social enterprise and disability organisations.&nbsp;<br>Action Hampshire would like to offer the wider local VCSE sector the opportunity of hearing from public sector colleagues, as well as having the chance to ask questions and network with them. Many VCSE organisations have been, or are currently, reliant on public sector funding, but it is important that the sector is not just seen as a recipient of funding but that it has the knowledge and experience to actively collaborate in the design and ommissioning of services. Following a review of community, mental health and learning disability services in 2022, a recommendation was taken forward to create a new, combined NHS Trust for these services. Forestry England's Shadow Volunteer scheme puts successful applicants into the heart of managing the nation's forests.</strong><br>Forestry England are looking for individuals who want to gain practical experience in the forestry sector and who are also interested in pursuing a career in conservation, community engagement and education, recreation, site management, or working with volunteers and the public.&nbsp;<br>Supported by a beat team you will shadow and be mentored by an experienced member of staff as they carry out their day-to-day tasks.&nbsp; You will be given training and develop on-the-job skills and experience during your volunteer placement, which can run one to three days a week for a period of six months.&nbsp; As your placement comes to an end you will be given guidance and support in looking for and applying for employment in the forestry sector with new skills and valuable experience to support you.<br>The nearest opportunities are at Alice Holt Forest, Farnham and in the New Forest.&nbsp; Closing date to apply: 9 July for September start.</div>]]></description>
