I think about the time I spent with my classmates in junior high and compare it to the experiences I’ve had with my senior high classmates. While things are definitely different, they’re just as meaningful in their own way. I know I will genuinely miss the people in my classroom — especially now that it’s only a matter of time before we all go our separate ways to pursue our own dreams.

Even though we only had two years together, the memories we’ve created will always hold a special place in my heart.

But over time, that fear slowly faded. I was fortunate enough to meet some of the most amazing people — friends who have not only welcomed me but have also made my senior high school journey worthwhile and unforgettable. Their kindness, support, and genuine warmth have made Davao feel like a second home to me.

Looking back, I’m incredibly grateful for the friendships I’ve formed and the memories we’ve already created. Each moment, whether big or small, has shaped me into who I am today. And as we continue this journey together, I look forward to creating even more meaningful experiences, growing side by side, and building connections that will hopefully last a lifetime.

Unfortunately, I was unable to attend the 2020 NSPC in Tuguegarao due to the onset of the pandemic.

Fast forward to 2022-2023, during my 9th-grade year, my high school recognized my talent for drawing and offered me the opportunity to return to school journalism—this time as a Filipino editorial cartoonist. I eagerly embraced the role and cherished the experience, continuing to grow both artistically and personally.

Yes, the subject Personal Development was very helpful for me. It allowed me to understand myself better—my strengths, weaknesses, personality, and goals. Through the lessons and activities, I became more aware of my emotions, how I handle challenges, and what kind of person I want to become in the future. It helped me reflect on my values and decisions, and it guided me in improving both my mindset and behavior.

2. After completing Senior High School, I plan to study Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology at San Pedro College.

a. I chose this institution because it offers excellent training and laboratory experience in medical sciences.

a. I will prioritize finishing my degree and graduating with honors.
b. I will also participate in extra-curricular activities that will enhance my personal growth and professional experience.

4. After graduating from San Pedro College, I will take the Licensure Examination for Medical Technologists.
a. Passing the board exam will make me a registered professional, allowing me to gain real-world hospital experience.
b. I may also undergo an internship to strengthen my laboratory and clinical skills.

5. After becoming a licensed Medical Technologist, I will proceed to medical school to specialize in Pediatrics.
a. I plan to continue my studies with dedication and perseverance.
b. My goal is to graduate on time, complete my internship, and earn my Doctor of Medicine degree.

6. After completing my medical studies, I will take the Physician Licensure Examination and begin my medical practice.
a. I aim to work as a pediatrician in hospitals and health centers to gain experience.

I think the type of love I have with my grandparents fits “companionate love” from Robert Sternberg’s Triangular Theory of Love. It’s the kind of love built on deep affection, trust, and long-term commitment rather than passion. Even though I have my real biological parents, I can always feel my grandparents’ strong and never ending love through their actions and presence.

One thing I wish my family would lessen is academic pressure. I know they want the best for me and they want me to have a good future. However, sometimes the expectations they set can feel overwhelming. It can make me feel like I always have to be perfect and cannot make mistakes. Because of this, I sometimes get stressed, anxious, and afraid of disappointing them. Despite their efforts to be understanding and supportive, the expectations are still there. Even when they say they understand how I feel, the pressure eventually returns, creating a never-ending cycle. It feels like no matter what I do, I have to keep proving myself again and again. This makes it harder for me to grow freely and develop confidence in my own abilities.

𝕔𝕠𝕦𝕝𝕕 𝕓𝕖 𝕕𝕠𝕟𝕖 𝕖𝕧𝕖𝕟 𝕓𝕖𝕥𝕥𝕖𝕣

I am grateful that my family tries to communicate with one another. We talk about our plans, our daily experiences, and sometimes even our problems. These conversations show that we care about each other and that we want to stay connected as a family. However, I believe our communication could still be improved. Sometimes, when problems come up, we tend to misunderstand each other or speak out of frustration. There are moments when instead of listening to understand, we listen just to respond or defend ourselves. This can lead to arguments, hurt feelings, or silence instead of real understanding. I appreciate that my family try, but I think we could benefit from being more patient and open when talking about emotional or personal topics. I hope that in the future, we can communicate in a way that is calmer, more honest, and more understanding—where every voice feels heard and respected. With this, our family bond can become even stronger and healthier.

𝕗𝕠𝕣 𝕒𝕟𝕕 𝕨𝕒𝕟𝕥 𝕥𝕠 𝕜𝕖𝕖𝕡 𝕗𝕠𝕣𝕖𝕧𝕖𝕣

I am deeply thankful for the love, support, and effort my family gives me. Even though we are not perfect, I can see that they are always trying their best. They work hard to give me opportunities and experiences that they did not have when they were growing up. Their sacrifices—big and small—are not always spoken about, but they are felt every day in the way they care for me. What I want to keep forever is their dedication to giving me a better life. I appreciate the guidance, the lessons, and even the challenges, because they all come from a place of wanting me to succeed. Their love may not always be shown through words, but it is shown through actions, effort, and the way they continue to support me no matter what. No family is perfect, but I am grateful that mine never stops trying. Their strength, perseverance, and love are things I will carry with me throughout my life.

This understanding helps me practice magis, which means striving to become better not just for myself, but for the greater good. Instead of reacting negatively to challenges, I can choose to respond with patience, respect, and growth. I can try to improve my communication, manage my emotions, and contribute to a healthier family environment.

It also helps me practice cura personalis, or care for the whole person. When I understand that each family member also has their own struggles, pressures, and hopes, I become more compassionate. I can try to listen more, judge less, and show support in ways that are kind and thoughtful. Caring for myself and caring for them work together, helping our family grow stronger.

In this way, recognizing both the good and the difficult strengthens my character. It teaches me to strive for growth, act with kindness, and build a family environment where everyone feels valued and understood.

My key takeaways from the subject are the importance of self-awareness, emotional intelligence, and goal setting. I learned that understanding who I am is the first step toward growth and success. I also realized that managing my emotions and maintaining a positive attitude can help me build better relationships and make smarter decisions in life. Lastly, I learned that developing good habits and a strong sense of purpose is essential for achieving personal and academic success.

My two favorite topics were Development Stage and Coping with Stress in the first grading, and Road Map in the second grading. During the Development Stage lesson, I never realized how much time had passed and how I’ve changed—physically, emotionally, and mentally—until I reflected on my own growth and experiences. The Coping with Stress topic really touched me because I used to ignore my problems and keep everything to myself, but this subject helped me realize the importance of opening up and finding healthy ways to release what I feel. Meanwhile, the Road Map activity in the second grading reminded me that my dreams are not just fantasies—they are real goals that give direction and purpose to my future. These topics made me more self-aware, hopeful, and motivated to become a better version of myself.

I never participate much in class nor speak much but—Thank you, Ma’am Jo, for guiding us with kindness and wisdom throughout this subject. You made learning about life and self-discovery both eye-opening and heartfelt. I will always remember your lessons, not only for academics but for real life as well.
