States on the other hand have the power to decide whether or not they want to legalize the use of recreational marijuana which goes against the laws in the federal government.

What are the main points for this to remain a state issue? a federal issue

The public wants this to remain a state issue because they believe that if the federals try to interfere and make it their issue they'll get carried away and do whatever they want with drug laws which could make things worse. Others want it to remain a federal issue because if the states get out of hand with the drug laws then the federal government can't interfere to stop them or control them which can lead to chaos. The federal government claims that marijuana has no medical value and that it is just a drug that's being abused.

Analysis- What side of the argument do you most agree with? Defend your argument with facts from your research.

I agree that it should stay as a state issue because the federal government has more things to take care of and also I believe that the federal government should not be given the power to control everything they please they also need limits. Also, if it remains a state issue it somewhat gives freedom to the people because if they really want the legalization of recreational of marijuana there's a chance that it will happen in a state and they can move to gain that freedom or fight their state to also legalize it. The Trump administration is claiming that it will punish states who decide on legalizing recreational marijuana usage. This shows that allowing the government to control the issue gives them too much power over the states.
