• Safely arrived at Langkawi Island. Direct to the Human Resources Department and meet the person in charge ,Puan Nadia. She took me to the quarters.

• I came to the resort at 9am and went straight to Human Resources department. They requested all important documents about the internship. After that I was given an orientation about the resort for almost an hour. Puan Nadia give the best explanation about the background of the resort, the rules to follow and walk around the resort to see the surrounding of the resort.

• Today I was assigned in the reception department first before moving to another department. This is because the reception department is one of the earliest sections that direct to the tourists or people that come. So I can learn and understand how a resort being operates. The first thing I learned is to make basic greeting. Basically we need to perform basic greeting when interacting with people or tourists by putting our right hands on the left chest and bowing a little while saying hello or something else.

• Today I was exposed on how the procedure when receiving guests. Basically I need to invite them starting from the guests get down from the car, then bring them to the reception desk, and help to bring them until reach their room.

• Today I was taught on how to key in the guest information on the system when they arrived. Gives a guest room key and manages the guest that check out from the resort. I need also making a short daily report on the number of guest that check in and check out.

• Today a group of 30 people are check in the resort as they attend courses. So the reception crew and I need to arrange them properly and provide the high services to them in a way to increase their satisfying.

• Today I was assigned in the housekeeping department for a week. My supervisor explain this department is necessary for tourism and hospitality student to learn as it very useful and can be use for the future. Today I learned to change the bed sheets with the correct and easiest way.

• Today my task is to clean the guest room. There is a lot of room to manage because the group of 30 people that checked in the past two days have checked out today.

• Today my task is still the same which is cleaning the room, changing bed sheets, sweeping, floor cleaning.

• Today the number of guest that checking out is less than the previous day. Thus ,the supervisor of housekeeping teach me how to decorate the room exclusive for couple that want a romantic environment. I learned how to make a blanket into couple of swan. Placing a rose in the room. That a new experience for me.

• Today I was assigned to prepare 5 full decoration rooms for couple that want to check in tomorrow. I really enjoy doing this task. Today my supervisor taught me on what the perfume that is suitable to use in different situations such as room for couple, deluxe and exclusive.

• This week I have been placed in Food & Beverage department. My supervisor explain I need to learn this department because the skill and knowledge is very useful in my career development. This resort served buffet for breakfast everyday. So my first task today and the easiest task is to collect coupon from guest that come to enjoy breakfast and tick their name.

• Today the crew of F&B teach me how to set up a table for the guest. I learned how to place the fork and spoon correctly ,where to place the napkin and others. My task today to set up almost 20 table for the event this night.

• Today I learned how to serve food and drink to the guest. I need to learn the protocol of serving the guest due this resort is 4 star and I need to follow the standard of procedure. I learned the way to bring food on a tray with one hand ,how to pour the drink to guest and other else.

• Today my task is to take order from the guest that want to enjoy meals from Mahsuri kitchen. I need to suggest the guest the popular dishes and drinks. I need to communicate in English for those the guest from overseas. Then I need to send the food towards the guest with full of protocol and standard of procedures.

• Today my task is to confirm with the reception department on how many guest want to check in today. Then I need to inform the kitchen department to prepare a fruit basket for the guest. Then after the kitchen crew finish up making the fruit basket ,I need to send the fruit basket towards the guest room.

• Today I was assigned at the tour package section. So today I need to learn the tour package that the resort sell. I need to understand detail about the package like the price or the activities because later I need to sell it toward the guest.

• Today I need to sell the package towards the guest. The tour package section is located near the reception desk. Thus when the guest come to check in ,I need give them the flyers of the tourism package and approach them to buy it.

• Example the package that being sell is tourist guide on island hopping ,cable car and more. Today my task is same which is selling the tour package and approach guest ,give best explanation to the guest. Then before I going back ,I need to make simple report on the sale on that day.

• Today the resort making a promotion 25% discount on each of the tour package due to the school holiday and in term to increase the sale. Thus I need work more harder to approach them to buy this package not only towards the guest at the reception area ,but also toward the guest that having their meal and the guest that enjoying their pool.
