Although he has a great intention of repay the care of his mother with and demonster his love of her, it's so difficult to him, a little boy, do all that without a adult. In my opinion, the family is always essential to face any challenge.

In Tydus' case, it's noticeable, to me, that his family gives him all kinds of support, but also that he creates, makes mistakes, falls and gets up on his own.

He does it himself, but he certainly knows he's supported by his family.

Finally, in my point of view, it is very important to let children to try overcome the challenge on their own, but showing them that they are not really or completely alone.
