The Penny Press is thought to have begun in 1833, when Benjamin Day created The Sun, a newspaper in New York City. He was on the verge of bankruptcy after losing a large portion of his business. During an era when most newspapers cost six cents, his concept of selling a newspaper for a penny looked extremely crazy. Benjamin Day accidentally launched together a highly competitive era in American journalism by selling a newspaper to the broadest potential audience.

McNamara, Robert. "Penny Press."

Newspaper reportage that focused emotion over facts was known as yellow journalism. He got the unenviable task of being the pioneer of tabloid journalism after obtaining The New York World in 1884 and rapidly expanding circulation through the publication of sensationalized tales. It's difficult to argue with the narrative, which is now backed up by false information producer interview sessions and data on the distribution of fake news articles. However, it is oversimplifying the story to suggest that yellow journalism faded because the public desired something better.

https://daily.jstor.org/to-fix-fake-news-look-to-yellow-journalism/

Several reporters nowadays believe that journalism is becoming increasingly reliant on social media, as many people would rather check a social media site for news than search a news website, which may take longer to produce a complete piece.Content is known everywhere, and people can absorb it whenever they choose. People no longer need to go to the store to purchase a book or newspaper. Journalists today are facing a different set of difficulties. Their readers may be smarter and more well-informed than they are in certain things. The one thing that they are missing today is time.

https://www.mastersincommunications.org/modern-journalism/
