This article relates to the concept of global cities. In this article it states that if Trump backs out of the agreement these other places will go directly to big city mayors for help. This proves how much of an impact our global cities in the U.S. play a roll in the global economy.  

 

This article relates to the course with the idea of remittances and global care chains. Mario, the gardener spends all his time taking care of other families yards in order to provide for his family, while his family lives a life without him in Mexico.

 

This relates to the course with the question of what is globalization, “Development of social and economic relationships stretching the world” (Giddens). This article shows how each individual can make little changes to their life which could have an effect globally on other countries not just our own. 

 

This relates to our class topic of how financialization effects development. This loan agency is partaking in the same thing banks were doing before the market crash of 2008. If banks continue to grant these types of faulty loans we will see another crisis, which is bad for not just us be the entire globe. 

 

This relates to the topic of trade. The U.S. the Philippines have been allies since the late 18 hundreds, and trade with the U.S. has helped them grow over time. If they were to cut ties with the U.S. where would that leave their economy? Also, like the article stated, what would happen to the many family members that have come to the U.S. from the Philippines over time.
