I loved listening part of the Pdc. I realised planning listening tasks would be very helpful for my Pdc sessions. Today' s best activity is ' Find someone who...' which really made everyone enjoyed. I definitely will use it in my classrooms. Also, I would rather use authentic materials during my lessons because we have to upgrade some techniques which are fossilised by using the technology in the classrooms. In other words we have to break the chain. We also mentioned about the differentiation which is about motivation, learning styles and learning speed of the students. We have to adjust the curriculum according to them. Because each students has different mindset.

Today, we started with ' Two Truths and a Lie' activity which can be used in order to build a rapport in a classroom. Then I have learned how to use Flipgrid which I definitely will implement on my PDC sessions.
I have got 40 students in my classes. Generally they aren't eager to speak English. They fell peer pressure on them. They feel uncomfortable when they make a mistake. That is the biggest problem. Flipgrid is a good way to solve this problem. Because they can correct their mistakes later on. So, it can build confidence in speaking.
By the way ı have critised myself because when I give instructions, I don't give any preparation time for my students. Now I know that ' Think Time' increases confidence of my students and helps their speaking.

For our collegues, I think, being aware of the pre-reading tasks, gist reading tasks, detailed reading tasks and post reading tasks provides a well-planned reading course. Because they all are about the planning. We should know the sequence of these activities before planning. In addition, if we know the differences between the tasks, we can easily modify and supplement any materials which are used in different types of schools.

In my context writing responses to the letters that needed advise was the most attractive activity of the day. Because every English teacher that I know complains about the difficulty in during writing activities and even putting a writing section in their exams. They thought that unwilligness of their students is a very big deal. So it is useful to show them they are not alone. This problem is not insoluble. And actually they will have a chance to feel the anxiety of writing a paragraph in the noisy classroom, that is real challenge I think.

Exploring useful websites and applications about writing skills will make them happy. Actually British Council's website that I am the most curious about can be advised if they dont have a chance to get experienced.

I have heard Wordwall, Liveworksheets, etc. All of those are very useful and they need to be mentioned during PDC sessions.

GRAMMAR

1. Today, in our grammar session we have learned how we can include differentiation and how we can include a digital element in the tasks. I think this is the most useful and appropriate part. Because for language teachers adapting a material can be lifesaving ability. Also adding technology draws the attention of the students in our classrooms.

2. Unfortunately we generally teach grammar explicitly because of the crowded classes. Maybe in some cases, we should use both explicit and implicit teaching. However the ideal one is implicit. In other words students should discover the rules rather be given indirectly. In my PDC Sessions, I guess most of the participants will claim that especially for weaker learners, teaching grammar explicitly is inevitable. However, for all students, working on the grammar points and the meaning on their own or as a group makes the students be active all the time and they can understand the rules in their own time, which makes the lesson more memorable and meaningful. This point should be prioritised because even if it takes time, we should reject the old fashioned techniques and balance between the implicit and explicit activities in our local context.

1. In today' s vocabulary session, the most effective vocabulary suggestion is ' Scott Thornbury' s. He says that ' When learners personalise a new word they are more likely to recall that word later. So encourage learners to relate to/ use a word in a way that means something to them for better learning.' I totally agree withthos sentence. Because it must be meaningful and personalised to learn a new word. For example, ' flag' is so important in our country. We never let the flag fall down. We should create mental images of the new vocabulary. Also, by concept checking questions, making the students guess the word is a wonderful technique which can especially used for high level students in my area.

2. I usually make the students keep a notebook for vocabulary. But from now on, I will suggest my students associating the target word with a word that is pronounced or spelt similarly in Turkish. And maybe they can add some illustrations related to them. It is a good way of learning and remembering.

I think the biggest and the most common problem related to assessment in our local area is summative assessment. Because our educational system always only focuses on the summative assessment. We ignore the process. We don't encourage learning and promote motivation. Instead of emphasising progress and achievement of the students, we always pay attention on the results and failure in national examination system. Because of the pressure of the exams, the students can enjoy the process of learning new things and developing. The students fed up with the exams. To help our learners, we should work on formative assessment which is a process used by teacher and students during the lesson.

Sometimes, we are going to come together , discuss and find solutions to local problems that we all have in common. So, building network thoughout the training is life saving. Planning an organization as a facilitator os not so easy, I know that. After that we should establish a social media account to keep in touch with our collegues.
