One of the situations where I’ve felt proud of my performances is when I was in Middle school, I was in an ELA where I had done very poorly for the last 2 semesters and we got to the creative writing unit I was able to write 4 poems, one of them about my cat, the changing seasons, my boyfriend, and one about my neighborhood. I was able to bring my grade up to an A after 2 weeks. Some strengths that I have is thinking of ideas really well, being good at video game trivia, cats really like me, and I know how to train service dogs.

(Scribed by McCreddin)

Last week was definitely a 2 out of 5. I was sick for most of the week and I missed Halloween as well as Monday so now I have to catch up on the stuff that I missed. The reason why I give it 2 out of 5 instead of 1 out of five is because I got put on a new medication that reduces stress and "corrects" your circadian rhythm so I've been feeling happier and I'm getting slightly better sleep at night. Also because my cat took a nap on my bed for the first time and stayed on my lap for a full 30 minutes.

What motivates you to do or accomplish something? Is it an intrinsic (internal) reward, or an extrinsic (external) one? Sometimes we do things so that we do not have to face negative consequences, sometimes it’s for the opposite reason; we do things so we get to face positive consequences. Which is it for you? Tell me about your motivational drive.

It depends what the goal at hand is. If it's something like homework then definitely in it to avoid negative consequences (not having to do work afterwards) or getting a job (not having to be homeless later on in life) because frankly I don’t see anything that could be rewarding to me in them. Unless the job I worked at was something that the world really couldn't go without (childcare, food, etc) it would be hard to take it completely seriously as I don't seem to gain the same sense of satisfaction that other people do when completing their work.

Write about something new that you recently learned. It could be from your classes, something from a video or podcast, or even just a “life lesson” from experience. Why is this information worth sharing? Teach us.

This probably isn't the most deep life lesson but when you're making kandi (the jewelry not the food) the type of string you use is very important. If you buy plastic string you're going to get a stronger kandi but you may struggle with tying a secure knot, if you get an elastic string you'll have an easier time tying knots and a stretcher kandi but the kandi comes apart more easily, so thick thread or elastic thread is usually the way to go (plus thread is less susceptible to dry rot). Also always use twice as much string as you think you're going to need and half as many beads.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN! What are your thoughts on Halloween? Are you into it, or do you hate it? Why? What is your Halloween style? Maybe you are indifferent to the holiday. What are your plans for tonight/ this weekend? Do you have a favorite Halloween story or memory? What is the worst/ best treat you received while trick or treating? (you don't need to respond to ALL of these questions... but use these as inspiration for your response)

Halloween has always been fun for me but this Halloween I was sick so I couldn't do very much so I stayed in and watched the Nightmare before Christmas. It wasn't the most interesting Hallowen but a few notable things did happen: My neighbor's dad dressed up as the grim reaper and stood very still outside of his house and jumped out at trick or treaters when they got to close, my other neighbor’s kids spent halloween in the ICU so three days later we had a Halloween “do over” when most of the people in the neighborhood put their halloween decorations back and got their leftover candy so she could trick or treat and bought me a doughnut (which was very nice of him) but when I opened the bag I found it was covered in ants from an unknown source. So that was my Halloween this year.

It's time for a rubric score review!! Whoo! Please review your rubric scores from the past few weeks on Aeries, then answer ALL of the following questions in your 4-6 sentence reflection:

Are you happy with your current scores? Why or why not?

Do you see any scores that were unexpected? Do you know why you got that score? [Hint: talk to your teacher]

What can you do to improve your scores?

I’m somewhat confused with my rubric score sense. Mr Howard (my praxis teacher) said that I was doing well in Praxis the last couple of times I asked about my grade. The last time I asked he said that having a C was normal and that as time passed and more scores got entered in my grade would change. Now it's almost Praxis day and my grade still hasn't changed despite the fact that I have asked him multiple times if there was anything I could do to improve it and been told that I was doing fine and there was nothing to improve??? I think he might have forgotten to enter in some of my praxis scores so I’ll have to remind him later today.

At what point will you consider yourself an adult, a “grown-up” if you will? (not speaking in legal terms) What marks adulthood? Is it strictly an age? A sense of accomplishing certain things? Accepting certain responsibilities or making important decisions? What do you think?

I think the idea of a “grown up” was made up as a way to get younger children to respect their elders. No adult I’ve asked has ever really said that they felt “grown up” only that they've learned how to act the part. It seems to be more of a persona that every adult has to wear for different periods of time depending on the situation, not an actual “thing” that you grow into. I believe that yes, there is definitely a certain maturity needed to become a functioning adult but you can reach that maturity at any age and it has more to do with compassion and decency then it has to do with the “grown up” persona that adult’s are forced to wear.

What is your favorite meal, activity, or memory? Do you go anywhere? etc. etc..

I usually spend Thanksgiving at home with my family and sometimes my uncle so it isn't as eventful as most Thanksgivings. Personally I don't like Thanksgiving very much because it's a holiday based off of eating and talking and I don't like most Thanksgiving foods (save for mint jelly) and most of the time there isn't much to talk about with my family. The only really notable Thanksgiving memory I have is one from when I was 8 years old. My mom wanted me to eat some mashed potatoes. I did not like mashed potatoes. I vomited said mashed potatoes. We no longer serve mashed potatoes. I suppose Thanksgiving was not designed for people with food based sensory issues.

If so, what?

No not really. Except some times I do, until I don't. There are certain things that I can't go about the day without doing like walking around the block and skateboarding and there are things that I will forget about that I do almost every day (like homework) unless I keep a reminder up. I like my routine but I wish that was less homework for me to do. If I could change anything about it I would change how much I walk everyday. Walking could make my attention span longer God knows I need that to stop myself from spending three hours a day looking at YouTube shorts.

Last week was a 4/5. It was a pretty good week but I misheard Mr Kim's instructions and thought he had assigned something to us over the break so I spent most of the break working on ELA. Other than that it was a good break! I got to go to Britetex fabric with my mom and pick out some cool fabrics and buttons for the clothes she's gonna make and I got to go ice skating afterwards and then after that I had some Trader Joe's Kringle. The next day Charlie came over and dyed our hair blue. After that it was Thanksgiving and my dad came over and we had Mac and Cheese with a lot of onion in it. Most families don't put onion in their Mac and Cheese but I do and there's nothing you can do about it. After that me and my boyfriend watched Moana 2 and it sucked but that's okay because I didn't really like Moana anyway and then after Moana we went to California pizza kitchen and I had supper banger hamburger so overall my week was pretty good.

There are just two weeks left in the semester, and that means finals. How are you feeling about them? (have you even started to think about them?) How confident are you in your abilities? What kind of help do you need to finish up assignments or study? What do you need to do to prepare for the end of the semester?

I'm feeling kinda stressed. Thanksgiving break was fun but it didn't really refresh me afterwards. I still had my ela assignments hanging over me the entire time and that made me a little freaked out for most of the break so I'm still overwhelmed by all the class work right now. I've been working on more Ela work before and usually it's easy but when assignments pile up like they have been today things start to get overwhelming. I'm hoping to ask for some of the study guides in advance so I can work on finals early.
