Plants are extremely important to our society and environment. When discussing the role of plant in our environment, the carbon cycle is one of the first things that comes to mind. The diagram pictured below shows a basic representation of this process. Carbon is first in the atmosphere in the form of Carbon Dioxide. Carbon dioxide is absorbed by plants where it is moved to animals, soils, fossil fuels and continues through the cycle. This cycle is begun by one critical aspect, plants. This article published by the UCAR Center for Science Education summarizes the carbon cycle.
https://scied.ucar.edu/carbon-cycle

Photosynthesis is a process that uses carbon dioxide, water and light to create sugars. There are three different stages involved in this process: the light capturing stage, light dependent (light stage) and light independent (dark stage). The video referenced below uses many visuals to explain this process. I chose this video because of the visuals. I am a very visual learner, and these animations made this process very easy to understand.

This is often caused by humans through agricultural methods that are not sustainable. Other issues could include natural disasters such as wildfires and droughts.
https://www.nationalgeographic.com/environment/article/grassland-threats

Because humans were settling into ares more permanently, civilizations began to form through the communication with others. The following diagram shows how the Neolithic Revolution impacted the Rise of Civilizations.

The 3rd Agricultural Revolution was the switch from Agrarian to Industrialized Farming. One of the most important aspects of this time would be tractors powered by fossil fuels and steam. These tractors allowed for a more efficient food supply for farmers. In turn, this increased food supply led to a larger global population growth.

On the left, we see our current world polluted with greenhouse emissions. It is a dark world, representing the unsustainable culture. On the right, we seen windmills and battery-powered cars. It is brighter, representing a healthier environment.
