As the 1980's were coming to an end in India the economy was facing a balance of payments crisis. Which means their foreign exchange reserves were falling and the foreign exchange reserves is the money that is held in a central bank to pay off debt from borrowed money. The way to fix a balance of payments crisis is by lowering your currency value and limiting the amount of import spending in your country. http://indiabefore91.in/1991-crisis

Since India's crisis in 1991 there economy has shot it's way into one of the top ten economies in the world. They have been able to sustain that for almost a decade because their GDP(Gross Domestic Product) is getting higher. The GDP is the total value of everything made in a country. India has a GDP of 2.45 billion dollars. Although India's economy seems really good there are barriers holding it back from getting better. India has a big problem with poverty. 50% of Indians don't have proper shelter. That is nearly 700 million people that are homeless or do not live in a safe home. India's unemployment rate has bounced around since 1990. In the early 2000's it was at about 8% then it started making steps upward reaching to about 10% before it dropped to where it is now at nearly 5%. The reason the unemployment rate jumped to about 10% was because more people were looking for jobs at that time, and sense they were looking for jobs they re-entered themselves in the market which increases the unemployment rate. India's main trading partners for exports are similar to Bangladesh being the United States and China. India's top imports are minerals and oil.

http://www.tradingeconomics.com/india/unemployment-rate
https://www.poverties.org/blog/poverty-in-india
http://www.statisticstimes.com/economy/projected-world-gdp-ranking.php

Pakistan's GDP is close to India's but its not that impressive for a population of nearly 190 million people. Pakistan's economy is rising but like India it has a major barrier of poverty. About 40% of Pakistanis live in poverty. The United States feels the same about Pakistan as they do with India and Bangladesh. China is the same way.

In 1990 India was in coalition politics. The party that came to be during this time was the Bharatiya Janata Party. Coalition politics is when two or more political parties can work together in an election or forming a government. The two parties that put India into coalition politics are Hindus and Muslims. The Hindus and Muslims didn't like each other but they had to come together in order to agree on a way they could share India. That way was for them to split India down the middle. In elections after Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated, Congress won 213 parliamentary seats and they were put back in charge of coalition, their leader was P.V. Narasimha Rao. They served the full 5-year term and started a process of economic liberalization and reform. All of that helped open the Indian economy to global trade and investment. In spring of 1996 Rao-led government had many major corruption scandal, which made this the worst electoral performance for the Congress Party that they have ever had.
http://www.tandfonline.com/doi/abs/10.1080/02185370208434202

http://www.pompeicollege.in/pdf/ba-iird-sem/COALITION%20POLITICS%20IN%20INDIA.pd

http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/world/india/politics.htm

Bangladesh's economy is the most boring because unlike India and Pakistan it has had no real action over the past 20 years. Their GDP growth rate has been pretty consistent of the past fifteen years with a couple of minor drops. Just like other countries it's economy is growing and it has pretty much the same barriers as the others. The major one being poverty. Bangladesh's total population is about 161 million people and about 27 million of them live under the poverty line. Most of the people in poverty live in rural areas in Bangladesh. Also another big problem with the economy in Bangladesh is child labor. Over 6 million children work in bangladesh and if they just get rid of child labor they get rid of a huge part of the work force. There are rules against Child Labor but employers ignore them and the government does nothing about it. Bangladesh's main export trading partners today are the United States and Germany and their main import trading partners are China and India. They're biggest import good is cotton, they also make machinery and equipment, iron and steel, and chemicals.

http://atlas.media.mit.edu/en/profile/country/bgd/

https://www.poverties.org/blog/poverty-in-bangladesh

The U.S and Pakistan have a broad multifaceted relationship with each other ranging in areas from education to energy to trade and to investment. Security wise the U.S and Pakistan have a strong security partnership that works for tearing down terrorist networks. Attacks in 2014 on the Karachi Airport and the Army school in Peshawar had created a spark across Pakistan and led to the adoption of the 20-point National Action plan (NAP) to counter attack terrorism and braced efforts to destroy safe-havens within Pakistan. The United States welcomed Pakistan's Pledge to refuse any safe haven militant group or the use of soil in Pakistan to set off terrorist attacks. Pakistan continues to move forward in conducting military operations significantly in FATA which stands for Federally Administered Tribal Areas and other areas in the country to corner domestic terrorism. In 2016 two different research groups saw drops in death significantly with 45% decrease in violent deaths and 25% decrease in violent incidents, better than percentage in 2015. https://www.state.gov/r/pa/ei/bgn/3453.htm

The agreement officially terminated the 200 years the British had been ruling prior.
The bill had mixed reactions, positive and negative. While most people were for the division of the countries, many were turmoiled by religious strife between Hindus and Muslims, which had already been the cause of the delay of the bill. Northern Punjab was where the strict line of division between India (Hindu-dominated) and Pakistan (Muslim-dominated), and is where hundreds of citizens were killed upon the granting of independence.
http://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/india-and-pakistan-win-independence

Tension between India and the British were rising in 1939 because Britain had used India's armed forces in World War II without consulting the country's representatives, which humiliated Indian nationalists. Thus, began the Indian Independence Movement, led by Mohandas Gandhi. Gandhi had proposed a campaign of nonviolent, noncooperation with the British in retaliation. Many nationalists were arrested because of this, and in 1942, the British tried to offer governmental changes after the war to gain support of the nationalists, but they did not offer Indian independence as a change. In January of 1948, Gandhi was assassinated by a "Hindu fanatic" during a prayer vigil to a place of Hindu-Muslim violence.
http://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/india-and-pakistan-win-independence
http://rivercity.wusd.k12.ca.us/file/1291557857997/1344348421783/5547505615865394130.pdf

Pakistan's Army has been in charge of defense, security policies, foreign affairs and internal matters.
Pakistan's political parties haven't had any effects on the country. They function under two family names; Bhutto and Sharif. The Sharifs have a better relationship with the army than the Bhuttos. Pakistan has a coalition government. Pakistan is still growing as a country but they have modern facilities in major cities. They have a lot of problems with their security and law enforcement. They have had more military, law, and civilian problems with fighting terrorists than any other country. Through all of these problems their government is still weak and unable to help as much as they need. In December of 2012 The only son of Bhutto told the people of Pakistan that he was going to carry forward his mother's legacy and that he was a political heir. The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz Party won a majority of the seats in parliamentary elections on May 11, 2013 and Nawaz Sharif was assigned Prime Minister for the third time. This election was the first day since 1947 that an elected government completed their term and passed it down to another successfully. Many actions concerning the militant organizations and other nongovernmental actors made some parts of the country lawless. Terrorists and extremists attacks on the country in 2013 led to about 2,413 civilians, more than 544 security forces, and more than 1,412 terrorists or insurgents were killed.
http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/world/pakistan/politics.htm

As Pakistan transitioned back to being a civilian-led governance in 2009, The U.S stated that what is important is a sustained U.S engagement with Pakistan's people and their civilian intuitions through civilian assistance to realize the interest that we share of making Pakistan more secure, stable, and a prosperous democracy that is successful in contributing stability in the region and countering all types of violent extremism. The Government of the U.S has contributed more than $6 million to civilian assistance for Pakistan, $1 billion is included in emergency humanitarian assistance to respond to the floods happening in 2010. Normal, everyday people now feel that they don't have to worry about the government and they can just go to work and have a normal day.
The national parties aren't able to come into power by themselves so they are trying to form an alliance. They are bribing the parties who support them in order to form these alliances. Bigger parties are breaking into small parties because none of them are getting a majority of the countries votes. This is helping the government stay stable. People are voting based on their needs and not on which party is the best.
http://www.mindcontroversy.com/current-political-situation-india/

In 2004 an opposition called 21 general stoke as help to a campaign to go against the government. President Iajuddin Ahmed formed a caretaker government in 2006. It was then confirmed in January 2007 that the Awami League and other small parties were to boycott the election based on their thoughts that the interim government and election commission are biased.
The election in 2008 was won by the Awami League which toom 230 seats, their ally (Jatiya Party) only got 27. Th BNP got 30 seats and their ally got 3. Awami League leader Shiekh Hasina was rushed to be Prime Minister in 2009. The new government faced their first problems in february 2009 when part of the paramilitary Bangladesh Rifles mutinied. Some people were then charged with murder or acussed of mutiny. The government made a tribunal to prosecute the ones accused of committing war crimes when Banladesh had their war for independence. In 2014 the election was boycotted by the BNP who called for the polls to be held under a caretaker government. Voting took place in only 147 of the countries constituencies. The Awami League had 231 seats total. Jatiya Party had 34 seats total and they formed the parlimentary opposition. This violence resulted in the hundreds of deaths just days after independence was granted.
Also, after independence was declared, over 8 million refugees from India were flooded into Pakistan. This caused major economic issues because there was sudden increase and demand for homes and jobs, which just wasn't possible for all these people.
There was also disagreements over the political system. Almost 500 of the princely states had to be persuaded to join the new territory, and since the states were ruled by monarchies, they had to change to a new political system that would benefit the needs of the population.
Because of the mass movements, with Muslims from India, and Hindus and Sikhs from Pakistan, there were huge riots and fights, ending up with West Pakistan losing many Hindus, Sikhs, and Muslims.
http://countrystudies.us/pakistan/14.htm / https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xTYwm5kmyh8

Bangladesh declared independence on March 26, 1971. They gained independence through the Bangladesh Liberation War, which started with a civil war breaking out in Pakistan, where the East and the West were fighting, the West demanding independence. In December of the same year, India comes to the aid of the East Pakistani people by invading East Pakistan. The Pakistani army surrenders at Dhaka, and their army of about 90,000 people become Indian prisoners of war. This resulted in East Pakistan becoming the independent country of Bangladesh. The number of fatalities is not certain, but it is between 500,000 to three million people. http://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-16207201

The main struggles Bangladesh faced after gaining independence were religious standpoints and language barriers. Religiously, Muslims and non-Muslims in East and West Pakistan had disagreed, so Bangladesh declared themselves as "People's Republic of Bangladesh in tribute to all Muslims and non-Muslims who had been apart for the struggle for independence.
In 1948, Mohammed Ali Jinnah had declared in Dhaka that the official language was to be "...Urdu, and only Urdu," which was a language only spoken in the West by Muhajirs, and in the East by Biharis, but a majority of the people spoke Bangla. Because of this, East Pakistan revolted on February 21, 1952, and many students and citizens were killed. This day is now recognized as the Language Martyr's Day, and International Mother Language Day, declared by UNESCO. http://web.newworldencyclopedia.org/entry/Bangladesh_War_of_Independence
