My original answer was incorrect again because there is no actual or physical tree or apple, but it is implied that there is because of the oddly specific details that are used. "And with soft deceitful wiles. And it grew both day and night. Till it bore an apple bright." My original answer was that they were metaphorically growing a tree, but the actual answer is that the narrator is using the characteristics of a tree to describe the growth of their wrath towards the antagonist in the story. "Till it bore an apple bright" is not literal, but instead this is something that relates to the narrator's anger.

I said that it's implied that the antagonist was killed; and otherwise, the narrator would not have been glad at the end.
