         <title>MafiaBoy causes $1 billion dollars in damages (2000)</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>15y/o Michael Calce a.k.a MafiaBoy unleashed numerous DDoS attacks against high profile websites such as Amazon and eBay. An industry expert estimated the attacks resulted in a $US1.2 billion dollar damage bill.&nbsp;<br><br>At the time, there was very little protection against this type of attack<br><br>He was arrested and later sentenced in 2001. As a minor he was given 8 months in open custody, meaning his movements and actions were restricted.<br><br>Calce has since written as a columnist and recently published a book about his ordeal.&nbsp;<br><br></div>]]></description>
