Here are some tips for posting on this bulletin board:

1. Plan Your Content: Before you start, have a clear idea of what you want to convey. Whether it's text, images, links, videos, or documents, gather your content in advance.

2. Set a Title: Give your Padlet post a clear and engaging title that reflects the content or topic.

3. Add Content: Click on the "+ Add Note" or the relevant button to add your content. You can add text, images, videos, links, and more. You can also drag and drop content onto the Padlet.

4. Customize Your Notes: You can format your notes, change fonts, add color, and choose different backgrounds for each note. This helps to make your content more visually appealing.

5. Position and Organize: Drag and drop the notes to position them where you want on the Padlet. Organize them in a logical flow for your audience.

6. Use Tags: You can add tags to your notes to categorize and make content easier to find.

7. Embed Content: Padlet allows you to embed content from other platforms like YouTube videos, Google Docs, or websites. Use this feature to enhance your post.

8. Add Comments: Encourage engagement by allowing comments on your Padlet. Users can leave feedback or discuss the content.

9. Include Links: If you have additional resources or want to direct users to specific websites, include links in your notes.

10. Preview and Proofread: Before sharing, preview your post to ensure everything looks as intended. Check for any typos or errors.

11. Share Your Padlet: Once your post is ready, you can share it by sharing the link or embedding it on a website or blog.

12. Update and Modify: Padlet allows you to update and modify your posts at any time, so feel free to make changes and additions as needed.

13. Engage Your Audience: Encourage your audience to interact with your Padlet by asking questions or prompting discussions within the comments.

Taught by trained leaders with lived experience, this program includes activities, discussions and informative videos. However, as with all NAMI programs, it does not include recommendations for treatment approaches.

Life Saver:

Sophia Pilgrim (Ketchikan) leads transformative youth initiatives in Ketchikan, securing $3.5M to launch the community’s first low-barrier youth center and creating a free lunch program serving 300+ youth. Through Rotary Interact and Ketchikan Youth for Change, she mobilizes peers, raises $10K+ annually, and delivers drug-prevention education through multiple community events each year.

Phoenix:

Wesley Hewson-Lastimosa (Ketchikan) has been an active member of Ketchikan Youth for Change for years, leading youth advocacy on substance use prevention and homelessness awareness. He helped run programs like Red Ribbon Week, Your Choice Carnival, Ghost Out, and Sleep-Out. Through peer education, Wesley fosters safe spaces, reduces stigma, and brings authentic leadership to his community.

Visionary:

Lola Swanson is a young leader from Seward, Alaska, who runs a year-round dance program providing accessible, high-quality arts opportunities to over 100 local youth, strengthening creativity, confidence, leadership skills, and long-term community engagement across families.

Innovator:

Olivia Okeahialam (Anchorage) is a motivated student. As Alaska’s youth ambassador for STEM Next, she tutors math, educates the public on climate issues, and volunteers with a food pantry, the Teen Media Institute, and Junior Achievement. Through advocacy and leadership, Ollie inspires peers to take action, promoting equity, education, and environmental awareness.

Dreamer:

Mazelle Joseph (Juneau) is a youth organizer with Alaska Youth for Environmental Action, inspiring peers, especially Alaska Native youth, through her dedication to culture and language. She created a Tlingit-language short film for a youth-led climate and storytelling project, showcasing her connection to the land and culture while urging protection against pollution and climate change.

Discovery:

Phoebe Tschappat & Morgan Saiget are leaders with the Copper River Watershed Project, promoting environmental stewardship in Cordova. They lead a recycling program, engage students, and support community outreach. Phoebe and Morgan provide hands-on education about watersheds and salmon life cycles and foster long-term community sustainability.

Role Model:

As Nanuk Lodge Chief, Kinsey Shepard (Anchorage) leads the Great Alaska Council’s youth-run Order of the Arrow program. She guides teens in planning inductions, service projects, and lodge operations while coordinating major events and improving camp facilities. A dedicated mentor, Kinsey builds confidence in younger Scouts and strengthens an inclusive, youth-empowered Scouting community.

Humanitarian:

Emily Brubaker (Anchorage) is a young leader driving policy change at the local, state, and national levels. She led the BioGlitter Initiative, prompting the Anchorage School Board to end purchases of plastic glitter, and, as Alaska’s State Lead for the Ensuring Lasting Smiles Act, she helped advance SJR 16. Through advocacy and civic engagement Emily empowers others to participate in democracy.

We’re excited to welcome youth mentees from our Statewide Mentorship Program, along with young leaders from across Alaska, for two powerful days of learning, connection, and youth‑driven leadership.

This summit is created by youth, for youth:
Youth‑chosen and some youth-led sessions designed and selected by our mentees.
Adult track shaped by youth perspectives on what adults need to learn.
Grounded in Public Health, Community Health & Wellness, and Advocacy.

Clinical Lunch & Learns: every Monday through September 28, 1 2 pm, for clinicians and clinical interns. Led by our COO Joshua Arvidson and other clinical staff at AKBH

I wanted to make everyone aware of an upcoming event that Safe Alaskans is hosting. We are offering a Ready Assess Open House on Wednesday, September 23rd, from 3:30 to 6:30 pm at our office (4241 B Street, Suite 100, Anchorage, AK). We’ll be offering free 15-minute, computer-based driving assessments. Young drivers, ages 14 and up, can complete a short, computer-based assessment at the Ready Assess station and walk away with a personalized report showing where they need more practice.

Additionally, we are always looking for community partners to host Ready Assess sites/events as we build our calendars for the coming months!

Another project we’ll be working on in the coming months is our teen driving toolkit, which features messaging created by youth to promote safe, distraction-free driving. We have a packet that teens, community partners, and schools can use to promote this messaging. We are continuing to build a list of community partners interested in working with us on this project.
