Week 1 - My Garden Walk

My boys and I spend alot of time in the yard, however it wasn't until I stepped outside to complete this activity that I really took notice of what was in the garden.
There is a large amount of greenery, and weeds throughout our gardens but I was really looking for some pops of colour and something that caught my eye. Although there wasn't much throughout my garden I was able to find something. I chose to place my items together because this is how they were in the garden and didn't want it to look like I had just pulled it apart.

I found this activity calming as I love being in the garden and my boys love the outdoors.

This activity would be a simple yet effective activity for students of all ages. It would allow them the opportunity to be outdoors and creative. Students of all ages and abilities would be able to create something to achieve the task.

Week 2 - Collected Items

These are the items I have created in order to create my stop motion. When I began I had an idea in mind however none of the items I found would work for my idea so when I found these items I quickly came up with another idea. This made me recognise that it is okay for ideas to change and there is always a way around the first idea not working.

Week 3 - Stop Motion

What: These are the recycled items I was able to find in the house to create this project. I am hoping to create a stop motion which will show the ‘journey’ of recyclable items into a larger box to make their way to the recycling bin. Hoping showing integration of the arts through visual art and media arts.

So, What: I learnt that integrating arts with another subject can be represented in many ways. I was surprised by the number of elements which are in both strands and also how they can work so well together. I am not a very ‘creative’ person however this was a great way to show how we simple it is to keep our recyclables separate to help with correct disposal.

Now, What: This was a great learning opportunity for me as it reminded me that even as an educator it is okay to not always have an idea at the beginning. This activity would be a great task for the class as it would allow each student the opportunity to collect their own items and express their own ideas through items and stop motion

This is my visual art making piece which was created using the four steps given. When I began the activity I was very nervous as I didn’t have any real direction with what I wanted the final image to look like however did know that I wanted to include some bright colours throughout.

This activity is a simple and fun way to integrate Maths and Visual Art in the classroom. The students would be able to express themselves creatively while focusing on shape and space from the Maths learning area. This activity allows students the opportunity to express themselves in a way in which they choose and there is no right or wrong answer.

Week 7 - Activity 2 Response to Music

This is my response to the musical piece. I have chosen to show both the softer sounds and the intense sounds throughout the piece. I have used soft wavy line in pink to show the softer sounds while the green sharp line represents the intense and fast beat.

This activity was very engaging and would be an activity which all students could participate in and would each have a different representation. Although I did find this activity a little challenging as there was no real direction and that to me feels very overwhelming with what the final outcome will be.

Week 10 - Drama & History Integration Unit

What:
This week focused on integrating Drama in another subject, HASS, History. Throughout the unit, students engage in multiple Drama related activities to assist in understanding the History content.

So What:
It was interesting to see the variations of how many ways to teach the same topic. I was able to think of most week's activities except for the second last one. I was unsure how to deliver that content through a Drama activity.

Now What:
I can use these strategies in the future as from my experience, teaching areas like History can be difficult if you don't make the learning interesting.

Week 9 - Animal Movement Sequence

Having been a dancer for many years this activity was one I felt most comfortable with as I had a deep understanding of locomotor and non-locomotor movements. The part of the activity I felt most difficult was selecting the most appropriate animal for the task. I believe that in a classroom this activity will be great for students however, there could be some time taken up through the time it takes students to select an animal. For this reason, I would give each student or group of students an animal to avoid the wasting of time selecting animals. It is important that students are grouped based on their ability to ensure that students of lower abilities are able to be supported together by the teacher or teacher assistant. Movement suggestions include:
  - Crawling through the leaves (four legs)

- Running extremely fast and then hiding to stay safe
- need to consider space
- need to consider how the audience will interpret the movement, will they understand what I am trying to show them?
