I have a blog set up on to which I post the video with any instructions about what I need them to do etc. I started by having a google form which they had to complete before the lesson so I could check they had watched the video, and understood it. Found this to be quite hard as I have a lot of students and it seemed like I was giving myself loads more work to do before class. After some resistence and students not doing the work I reverted to 'normal' lessons which they hated and soon begged me to start up the flipped again. No major problems since!!! I have also started to produce the powerpoint so they can print it off and have it to hand when they listen to me as I tend to have very sparce slides. I can then do a quick audit in class during the initial starter activity to see how they have expanded (I mark the notes and leave feedback).

In class I have freed up loads of time to analyse and evaluate the theory/topics, and have dedicated the last 30-45 minutes of each lesson on essay planning, or actual exam questions as this was highlighted as a major concern in our results analysis, especially for A2. They seem to be at a more advanced point then the AS were last year so looks like it might be working!!!!!!

Blogs are

Ry is an absolute pleasure to have in class; he is a polite, well-mannered
and amiable student. He is quiet but, when prompted, makes the most productive
and relevant comments. His work in English has been of a high standard from the
start of the programme, exceeding the minimum target grade produced.
Intellectually, his natural ability is evident and, coupled with his
commitment, organisation and general positive and mature attitude, I would be
highly surprised if he did not meet at least a grade B. This is borne out by
his work in class and homework, both of which demonstrate his skills in
critical analysis and his collaborative and independent skills – all carried
out with aplomb. He assimilates higher-level terminology with ease; indeed his
command of language is well above that of Level 3. Ry submits work that is
well- considered and well-expressed, demonstrating a sound grasp of the
requirements of the study of language and literature at this level. For
example, his Unit 2 coursework, based upon comparative critical analysis,
demonstrated his clear ability to structure and maintain a sustained, cohesive
discussion, for which he gained a well-deserved grade A. In history Ry recently
completed a presentation where he was able to handle the complex topic of
migration to the North during and after the American Civil War. Significantly
he was able to differentiate between different groups of African Americans,
rather than treating them as a homogenous group. Ry is a highly engaged learner
in psychology and shows genuine enthusiasm and commitment to his studies. He
has demonstrated that he has the ability to research topic areas independently
and in great depth, and to approach any task with absolute conviction. Ry has
demonstrated extremely high powers of analysis and deconstructed information
from the outline of a crime in order to highly successfully produce a profile
of the criminal.
