At first sight, science and technology take part in the production of a better futur. For example,  machines replace progressively humans. So, they are not obliged to do dificult tasks or intellectually useless. 

Equally,  the medicine field know a gigantic progress that serves humans. For instance, designer babies save a lot of lives. 

Technology improve , moreover, comfort of each of us.

  Alternative solutions are developed for the energetic reconvertion thanks to technological progress. 

Finally and to conclude this first part, I think that the progress make the apparently impossible possible. The last scene of the movie GATACA illustrate this idea that the progress have. Gattaca didn't must realise his dream, in other worlds, he didn't must go in the space nevertheless, he finelly manage to do his dream thank to the progress in the science.



Nevertheless, I believe that technology musn't change human nature and go against of ethic and moral code. 
If we pick the designer babies up, they have a indisputable use : to  save lives, but at the cost of other lives, even if they are created by humans, and this is debatable. 

Futhermore, we saw that technological progress improve comfort but, does humans  need that ? Is it a necessity ? Not in my view. 

Moreover, progress can have a large social impact. For exemple, the gated communities are little privated districs, built of luxurious houses with a lot of modern appliance, so  reserved by a rich class of people. A scene of the movie Stepford wives illustrate what's gated communities in he USA.  It's a social problem in that it split the society. 

To conclude,  I think that technological progress has limits that we have to take into account, witout for all that  to be unwilling about it. So, to answer to the question, yes, technology and science are going too far for certains cases but they permit to do great things.

Progress has a lot of impact in the improvment of the quality of life, the medicine,  the global warming etc... But humans have been  capable of  doing to live. Humans are today not especially more happy than formerly. The progress is a improvment, a evolution that aim to do something better. It can be technical or social...We will be precisely interested in the progress of the space of the eating trade. We can wonder what is the result of the hypermarcket appearance in the 1950s ? At first, we will see the positiv point of the hypermarcket and secondly, we show that this devlopment bring also a lot of problems.

The appearance of the supermaeket is first a disruption in the everyday life of the population. Indeed, before this, people buy her food in different local shops or in the contrysides, it was the small producer that went to meet her clients. With the appearance of the hypermarket, people buy from now on products not expensive and they have the choice. In other words, people can eat nutrients that they can have before this. DOC : My first document illustrate this idea. We can see a section completely designed for packets of crisps.
Futhermore, it's practical because we can find all the product we want in the same place. We can say that the one of the consequence of this event is a incredible social progress.

Finnally, hypermarket is improved  for economic reasons.

Nevertheless, the improvment of the supermarket have a lot of negative consequences. First, the small producers become completly dependent of the department stores. So, many give up her farm because the yield is too low.  Doc : In this graph, we can see a large drop of the little farms but a increase of the big farms.
Another, there is a ecological impact. Indeed, the small are forced to increase her yield. So, they should use pesticide.
Equally, the rise of the exportation and the importation favour the air polution.
Finally, there is a loss of links between the consumer and the producer.

To conclude, the supermarket appearance permit to make the people life easier and the whole food accessile for everybody but generate a lot of problems regarding social or ecological. However, there is recently, local distribution channel are created. The producer sell his products without intermediary. And I think that the mentalities change about this.
