I’m inviting you all through this platform to practice or learn some basic vocabulary words in Spanish, by clicking on one of my favorite websites https://freerice.com/profile-login where you get to play fun educational games for free while helping fight world hunger… (if needed, for a brief explanation of what FreeRice is all about click on the attachment titled: What is FreeRice?)

To make it even easier for you to play the games, you can now download the FreeRice app for free from the Apple app store or Google Play onto your phone. I encourage you to do so today hoping that seeing the app on your phone will serve as a reminder to play it often! “Boost your brain power while helping us reach zero hunger” (WFP USA)

This is the way it works. Either from the website or the app, you create an account using your school e-mail to keep track of your donations. Having an account will also allow you to challenge your friends in the trivia games. First things first. Let’s begin with Español. Once logged in, you proceed to the “Language learning” category and select Spanish, then choose the “Difficulty level” (from Easiest to Hardest) and begin to play. Play for as long as you want, challenge yourself and your friends. Don’t forget to tell la familia so they can contribute to this noble cause as well! After you are done with Spanish, you should explore some of the other categories: Global Facts, English, Geography, Humanities, Math and Science. A new category “Corona Virus: Know the facts” was added recently.

Share with me your experience! Take a screenshot of your rice donations and share that with me as well! Happy playing!

                          😊

We all know how much we secretly LOVE making paper snowflakes. This project is basically creating a bunch of them and putting them together!
You will need:
- paper/card stock
-scissors
-glue (to paste the cutout rings to the base paper)
-circle templates decreasing in size

**You don’t have to use card stock like in the video...construction paper works just as well.
If you don’t have colored paper, use plain, white drawing or printer paper. You can even add color to the different rings with markers, crayons, or paint!

**If you don’t have glue, you can use tape to put the rings on the base paper. Simply role the tape and place it on the back so you don’t see it.

**If you unable to print the templates used in the video no worries! You can make your own by tracing anything circular such as cans, coffee container lids, water bottles, mugs, etc. Just make sure your circles decrease in size by about an inch so your rings aren’t super thin and fragile.
You can also use a string as a compass. Tie a string to a pencil and, holding the other end of the string in the center of the paper with your finger, pull the pencil around in a circle. Be sure the string is pulled tight as you do this!

Send me photos of your work! I would love to create a collection of student art work during the COVID-19 outbreak to share with everyone!

gwendolyn.reimer@leominsterschools.org

Remember you can always create multiple versions of the same project or of a project from a previous week! There is NO deadline...just make sure to show me what you come up with! 😊

Are you surprised when you see your average screen time for the week?
This is week we will be listening to a podcast from the series "Smash Boom Best". "Smash Boom Best" is a debate show for kids. In this episode we will hear about the bold challenge the co-hosts took on: they went a week without phones or tablets. We’ll hear how their experiment went. There is an attached sheet with the link for the podcast. You can listen on your computer or tablet. Or you can go for a walk and listen to it on your phone. After following the link, press the blue button that says "Play Episode". Make a copy of the Google Doc so you can answer the questions.

The assignment that is attached is asking you to provide factual evidence from what you have listened to. Just like in ELA, you need to use facts to support and back up your thoughts and opinions. There is brainstorming for BEFORE listening and AFTER listening. At the bottom of the page there is a space for you to put your thoughts in to writing. The length of writing is expected to be no less than four sentences. Happy Listening! You can always share your document with me at kara.foley@leominsterschools.org, I'd love to see what you think about this!

Hi guys! In chorus we often warm up with a round. A round is a song where people or groups start at different times (think “Row, Row, Row Your Boat”). Below is the sheet music for a three-part round using the songs “Swing Low, Sweet Chariot”, “Oh, When the Saints” and “I Wanna Sing”. Also I have attached recordings of myself singing each part and a video of what it should sound like all together. What I would like from you is to learn and teach 2 people in your household the round and record yourself once you have it right! If you are tech savvy, record all three parts by yourself and then mash em together like they do in those fancy YouTube videos 😜 can’t wait to see/hear these! Good luck! As always feel free to email me if you need help! Brenda-Anne.lemay@leominsterschools.org

I’m sure, with everything going on in the country these last few weeks, you are filled with all sorts of emotions. The assignment this week is going to be similar to the assignment a few weeks ago regarding pre and post quarantine.
The theme for this assignment is “Equality”. I would like you to create a representation of what the word equality means and looks like to you. This piece can be 2D or 3D and could be made from any materials of your choosing. I feel it is important to get your emotions out and let your voices be heard.
All I ask it’s that you PLEASE keep your projects school appropriate...and me a picture of what you come up with! :)
