Skrillex and it's Cultural Import

Skrillex has a certain type of audience that loves what he creates. In today’s time there is a major assumption of what that group looks like and what else they listen to. I do believe though, that the audience has grown and has much more diversity nowadays. The Rolling Stone says, “it turns out he actually wants to make you dance, not just mosh like a maniac.” This quote shows a shift in audience just from a reporter’s perspective, but also as a general audience accumulative response. This matters for all other communities because this small shift in sound could now appeal to others in different music communities. It shows that this kind of music that you thought you didn’t like is now something that might be more approachable and easier to listen to. I also think this specific artist, Skrillex, opened a door of music to so many listeners. He created something that many of us had never heard of before and it really drew in a community of listeners that might have found a type of music that they could finally love and relate to. I personally do not relate to this type of music and am not in its audience because I do not like the sound of computer-generated music. But, I do appreciate it as a type of music and that it is something special to some music listeners.
