The documentary we watch was about capitalism it is called "capitalism a love story" and it tell us and teach us lots of things that in many aspects have great impact and in many others it doesn't. I would like to give my point of view and for me I really didn't like what it was said of capitalism. Capitalism rules the world, you earn what you produce, that's the reason why for example Lionel Messi has a millionaire salarie and a doctor a very modest amount of money, because only in capitalism a person can produce entertainment that every person earns something, socialism is a utopia that everyone has the same and it's impossible that everyone lives a very good life depending on what they produce, even Russia when the Soviet union collapse it became capitalist and was am economic miracle. The documentary show us that capitalism is the worst thing ever, literally, that capitalism is cruel, evil, it has a bad ideology and how democracy was ruined by capitalsm. I would like to learn more about the reality of capitalism, the true of it (the real background of it.)

Marcela collante

I know capitalism is not the best economic system and have its pros and cons but even though is a good economic system. The documentary make us see that Capitalism is bad, it has a wrong practice and is evil. Some of the things said in the documentary:
- There is no middle class
- Free to make a profit
- Radically evil (capitalism)
- Propaganda has extended capitalism life persuading people
- Capitalism ruined democracy
- How money is everything

At the beginning capitalism seemed as a beautiful and prosperous system for the economic of the US. With help of capitalism and advantages gain after a series of war, the US achieved an incredible industrialization and gaining. But when Ronald Reagan became the US president everything that had achieved propeserity for US went to dust. With this Wall street had direct access to control the taxes as they wanted decreasing taxes for the wealthy and there was a huge dismantling of the system just for some to earn short term profits from it. Since teh system changed but was still called capitalism many companies went bankrupt causing a huge loss of jobs all around the US. And when the time arrived Japan and Germany took advantage of the absence of the US and gain an economical advantage over them. In my humble opinion, capitalism at its transparent form is actually a good system but due to many people that just wanted more the system went corrupt and it started cauing more problems and less solutions.

This movie starts with a comparison of the US and the Roman Empire which shows the start of capitalism and how these systems have changed over time due to corruption and how it is leading the world into bankruptcy. When Ronald Reagan became president of the United States, however, everything that had brought the country to prominence vanished. With this, Wall Street had direct power over taxation, since they want lower taxes for the affluent and a massive destruction of the system for a few to profit from it in the near term. Since the system evolved but was still referred to as capitalism, many businesses have gone bankrupt, resulting in a massive loss of employment across the United States.

So far I am very interested in the ideas showed throughout the documentary, even though my body during class has other ideas (sleeping). Whenever I’m not exhausted and overly tired, I consider these ideas and try to picture them as true as if trying to figure out how much sense they make in my brain. I have learned that it’s all about the story behind the story, that our history as humans and our ancient government organizations influence today’s politics (Ancient Rome specifically), and how the disparity between rich and poor will ultimate lead into the fall of economy as we know it. I have learned that Capitalism, or at least it’s supposed purest form in the States’ Capitalism, does not care about the middle class trumps the definition of Democracy, revolves around gainings tons of income and paying 🤬 wages, and profiting from misfortunes like death. I am sadly not going to be around for the final week of class but if I was, would have loved to learn about how to pay my bills because I find it useless to know what is a monopolistic competitive graph and how to find the consumers surplus on it, than how to actually pay my bills and avoid getting robbed and stomped on.

The documental is a criticism of capitalism. It refers to capitalism as a system of giving and taking. It shows different stories in which people have been affected by this system, in mainly negative ways. It says that at first, it was a good system, but later on, with the deregulation, it converted into a system only a few people could enjoy. It many focuses on middle-class citizens who have faced problems with their properties, their jobs have been taken, and others. In my opinion, capitalism is a good system, but just like any other system, it has bad and good things. It is always good to see this type of thing from another perspective, but it didn't change my opinion about capitalism.

I learned about how the capitalist system in America became unregulated. This is a system from which the upper class mainly benefits from it.

This final week I want to learn about economic inequality.

This documentary showed us that there is not a better political system, since each one of them have pros and cons. The constant debate between individuals arguing about which political system is the best for managing a country, leaves the uncertainty about if a political system placed in a society is really that “good” or “bad” as it seems. I learned that any political system can be corrupted for an egoist motive, benefiting a small group of individuals but injuring the rest in some way.

The documentary we had the opportunity to watch shows the immense wage gap that there is between rich people and middle/low classes. The documentary overall shows the causes and consequences of this problem, in which we are able to see that from 1970's and on the economic growth and income increase paths parted, while before both grew at the same rate, from late 1970's and on this wasn't the same. The documentary also shows how this wage and social gap affects the market in terms of labor, prices, demand, supply, etc. Making us very conscious about how this problem caused by economical systems impacts society as a whole.

From the documentary I was able to learn how inequality impacts society not only socially and politically but also economically, and that money in many parts of the world is distributed in a way that there's no balance, for example in the US the 400 richest people together are wealthier than the rest of the US population all together.

Finally, in this last week of class I would like to learn about international commerce, it's a topic that interests me a lot and I have very little knowledge about.

The documentary we were watching is called Inequality for all. It shows how inequality impacts the market in terms of labor and income and it gives us an insight of how this affects the American population. It is stated that in order to reduce inequality, there needs to be a strong middle class, one in which the labor and the pay are coherent instead of raising labor expectancies and having the same salaries over the years. It also mentions that a problem that stops the middle class from growing is the fact that wealth is accumulated among the richest people and they do not invest in their own people, but choose to increase their wealth. This taught me that not investing in domestic products ultimately affects labor because people that have the most money are spending too little and people with lower incomes are spending a lot of their salaries. This affects labor because not enough demand is being reached, therefore not enough workforce is present. This tackles the idea that wealthy people having companies generates jobs. I would like to learn how having the biggest lower class in comparison to the 1% that keeps the majority of the wealth affect the market and how different political parties could solve the problem of the middle class while still having space for entrepreneurship and private property.

Inequality for all so far has shown us the gaps that taxes and low-wealth countries (especially the USA) have created, and demonstrates how people from the middle class have been affected. It mentions the excess of taxes, and begins to suspect the government about who the rules benefit. Does it benefit everyone or just rich people? I’ve learned from the documentary that the middle class is the center of the universe, and it is the famous people that are spinning around them. Furthermore, it is globalization and technology that have influenced the growth of inequality. Besides, I like that we see a good example of a good economy with low taxes: US after WW2 as it reduced inequality. As a result there was a quality society and education; tax revenue decreased; and better government investment was presented. It was a complete prosperity.

I liked the various points of view presented by different types of people; the different points of view help to get a better picture of the situation.

One of the things I have learned so far is that it is extremely difficult to move from poverty when you are born into it, especially in the US. For example, 42% of children that are born in poverty will not get out of it, while in other countries this percentage is much lower. It shows that even though people nowadays may be working harder and harder they are not getting any further. It is devastating to see this from one if not the most powerful country, the US does not seem to care about this inequality when it is a very important matter.

I will want to learn about finance but in a way that can be used in everyday situations, like taking costs of products or creating budgets.

This documentary for me shows one of the biggest problems of capitalism that is labor exploitation, and this is one of the causes of why socialism is created. The owner of the company keeps expanding its patrimony and the workers are unable of growing more than they are, this probably is because of their income is so similar to their expenses and this don’t let the economy to work better, the working class is the one that needs to consume the most for companies to prosper and this would generate more employment, so if a country have a good working class capable of consuming then they can have more employment with a better education (because of paying more taxes) and a better future with opportunities. This is why for me a good capitalism is in where there is not labor exploitation and workers gain what they deserve for them to spend more.

The documentary we saw was "Inequality for all" . The documentary is like a personal perspective of a professor talking about how the USSA has one of the biggest inequality even though it is a country that it is supposed to be a guide example. First of all I want to say that, in my opinion, it is a good film to watch just to take an example that we need to explore different systems to decide whether it is good for a country or not. Reich’s Berkeley, tells us that inequality is inevitable in capitalism; he starts using data to show off how the United States has regressed under the years and also states that in 2012 the four richest people in America had more wealth than half of the nation. In addition, we can compare this with Colombia as the quote said “the rich get richer and poor get poorer” this means that the government is taking advantage of the low class communities and not giving them proper education nor work. Also, the professor state that economy is sustain by the middle class however they have experience downhills over the years. On the other hand, what I learned in from this documentary is that many time does who call themselves “job creators'' are just trying to create and status for themselves; however the real creators are the one who really works, for a prosper economic there need to be investment in the poor and middle class. Finally, I want to learn about how exchange and mortality have a relationship with economics.

Wonderful documentary, inequality is a real problem that only reduce for economic inequality, but also for example we have gender and race inequality. We see how inequality affect the life quality of a big chunk of the population. Is establish that a capitalistic society need a middle class, they move economy. Still, when your inequality increase and the middle class become more poor, you stop economic movements, close opportunities, create slaves, miserable people that believe that they "live well". This may lead to weak middle class and as a consecuence a economic crash. Basically to evit this you need to guarantee that wages grow at same rhythm with productivity. I like the last part where they show how technology convert our middle class weaker and life more expensive. My conclusion: our humanity essence, grow smaller with each day that pass.

I enjoy this year, mister you gave me several valuable tips, recommendations and lessons that will lead me to be a better person and reach what I want to become.

What do you think of the documentary so far?
It is understandable that not everyone has the same opinion about capitalism, we live in a world of contrasts and differences. I recently saw the documentary Capitalism: A Love Story and it seems to me that it heavily criticizes capitalism and how companies and corporations directly and indirectly dominate the daily lives of Americans and, consequently, the entire world. I think there are some parts where the creator exaggerates about what capitalism is, in my opinion it is not a bad economic system.

What is one thing that you have learned?
The main thing I learned from this documentary is that capitalism is not a system that favors the middle class. Capitalists benefit from capital accumulation to generate their profits by investing in different projects. As more is produced and capital is accumulated, the profits of the capitalists also increase. Therefore, those who benefit most from a capitalist system are those who own a large amount of 'capital', in other words, the upper class people.

What would you like to learn for your final week at school?

In this last week I don't want to learn anything, I don't even want to come to school, I just want the school year end and start vacations :)))

The documentary is really interesting, it analyzes the widening income inequality in the U.S. It shows how this affects the economy and all the consequences of this problem. The documentary reveals how 1% of the population earns more since the richest four hundred Americans had more wealth than half the United States population put together. Shows how the middle class is the most important factor in the economy, since a strong middle class = strong economy. The documentary also explains that some inequality is inevitable under capitalism and the middle class is struggling for years. I learned how inequality affects the market, in the documentary there was a business man with a company and he said that the problem with rising inequality is that fewer people can afford their products also I learned that the middle class is the heart of the economy and the huge income difference between the 1% and the rest of the people.

I would like to learn more about history especially the economic strategies they used during wars.
