Well... our first class together was quite interesting… right at the beginning it started with a counting activity to get us all focused and a bit more quiet, I guess it wasn't that bad experience after all; I actually got a technique how to calm my class down when they are being too loud and excited, I must also add the questions game was very cute and I would like to use it in my class later on. When we started the actual lesson we got lots of information I wish we could go over again together, the four major theories: Behaviorism, Cognitivism, Constructivism and Connectivism, It was my first time hearing about them (our class is a heterogeneous one, we all came from different places and levels) so I somehow feel like I didn't fully get their ideas, though we only went briefly on the theories, I hope we will find a way to simplify them In order to understand better. Thank you,

I was really surprised to hear that it's better to ignore and do nothing about a kid's misbehavior rather than to punish him… (He might never learn the right way to behave or how to accept criticism next in life) I also found the idea to encourage and give rewards to enforce positive behavior very important, that it can get ppl to do things words won't get. The third important thing is of course the "flow"- "Optimal Challenge, a motivator which leads people to engage difficult tasks".

First of all, thank you for going over the "Rewards" idea again, it helped a lot. The video of the Big Bang Theory about the positive reinforcement was hilarious and very fun to watch :) it really helped with getting our attention and I'm sure I'll use more videos in class from now on. I can't list the things I didn't understand, the lesson was pretty clear though I wish we could go over the table of the positive and negative feedback again, it's still hard for me to get the differences between them, so explaining even in one sentence will really do."How feedback works"-I feel like we were in a hurry while explaining it, so looking into it again might also be a good thing. Thank you!

First of all :) Thanks for the videos, it's always nice to watch and hear new aspects. I highly enjoyed the video of Angela Lee on the power of Grit, the way she explained everything was fun to hear (I heard it twice and even searched for more of her videos)I think I have a lot to improve and always remember how positive reinforcement can affect and help the weak students. To determine them to be part of the "Growth mindset group" and not the "Fixed". That's by using compliments, improving our student's strengths and "Yes I can" attitude to succeed (except our job as teachers to make the right effective environment in class).

Sorry but I think I already forgot everything…I'm kidding :) The lesson was very nice and effective. It's not that I like quizzes or something… but it was really helpful, a way to go over the last topics without getting us into much stress. I really feel it's all clearer now. Thank you! I must also say I find it fun and encouraging, writing feedbacks to my friends around and getting some :). The topic of "Memory" is really interesting and important so though I usually prefer the teacher to be the one to explain more, I liked the videos and the examples (with the types of students) of how the brain works, the short/long term and the video on cued- free recall etc... I will do my best from now on to remember and get my students (and myself) to actually use what they have learned, so they will recall the information and it won't go to waste (as the short term).

Well… it's not a new thing for the lesson to be very nice and interesting, as always. I'm sure, as I did, everyone enjoyed the lil game at the beginning, it was a good repetition of our previous class. "Input less- Output more" Mr Robert Bjrok - I agree! Bjork explains that questions, quizzing etc, are much more effective in generating long-term memory, better than going over and over again on the same material. And that even if we feel like it gets easier and familiar with time, these effects may not help much with long-term learning. We should indeed give more opportunities for our students to use and "input" the things we have learned, or after a weekend everything will get lost… P.S. Thanks for the consideration and the extra time!

We started the class with a "review quiz" which was very effective and somehow even a bit fun to do. (I wish more lecturers would adopt this idea instead of just throwing tests on us).The topic of "Generalization" is very interesting, and a must for us as teachers to know its importance. After learning about all of these points including analogy and contrasting cases, I believe that I can take these points in to my own life and make use of them as a teacher because I believe that they are very important and that my students can benefit from them greatly.

Though… I'm a little worried about how will I get them focused on class again, after that 5 min break… They must be very behaved kids to not keep on throwing things around or talk, and I as a teacher should have that strong personality to hold them. I wish it was more recognized in schools, it was really fun and "refreshing", I think the smile I made while entering the class that morning was the biggest smile I've made this whole semester xD, I personally learned and experienced a lot. Thank you Keren for always sharing your smile and creative ideas with us, your personality itself is something I have a lot to learn from.

The lesson was about Elaboration and Deliberate Practice. In the beginning of the lesson we went over the last lessons before the PWW. Some of the points in short are:

-To use only 2 channels, if they hear you –make the presentation video with a specific and simple caption.

-We have to repeat the new material as new words etc for seven times at least (as many times as you can)

-A good feedback always shows you the things we should be better in, and that we of course must know how to give and accept it.

-20 min are the amount of time for the students to stay focus, after that we should give them a short distraction.

-Being an expert takes time," it takes about 10,000 hours to develop exceptional expertise" after all, we all know that practice makes perfect.

I found all of them to be very important for teaching and life itself. We also did a group work for 10 min, reflecting our experience during the practical week, which was indeed effective for us as students who started to lose focus…

We watched some very nice videos regarding this topic, and were asked to write questions about them. One of the videos was full of suggestions and ideas of how to create a feeling of belonging in the classroom, which will be very useful in case I see a quiet loner kid in class or even outside of the school system. Another video was about the connection between learning and emotions, when a negative emotion "push" and "stress" our lobes, our brain changes and we end up letting the fear, anger, sadness etc take over our thinking and then decisions. Feelings may be a private thing, and students won't always want to share it with you, but in general, it's this topic is very, very! And that even if we feel like it gets easier and familiar with time, these effects may not help much with long-term learning. We should indeed give more opportunities for our students to use and "input" the things we have learned, or after a weekend everything will get lost… P.S. Thanks for the consideration and the extra time!

5#
