"white opposition careened from the Massive Resistance of disenfranchisement, interposition, [and] school closures...to the passive resistance of pupil placement laws, residential segregation, token integration, and 'neighborhood schools'" (p. 96).
I liked the term "passive resistance" because I think it shows how segregation happens today. I knew they got much more funding than students of color but seeing that a white school got paid about $121 per students compared to the $23 that each student of color got. After slavery, Black Americans were still seen as subordinates and thus not given the same opportunity. The Jim crow laws were a way to continue to control Black Americans and be seen as "legal." Such as racialized institutions such as white collar jobs and even our education system. Very euro-centric but im glad that we are able to incorporate ethnic studies into everyday life.
