He continues his arguments by saying President Hayes gave the power to a party that had, "forces too powerful to be resisted." Du Bois was reflecting upon how The Reconstruction era was being taught towards young children reading textbooks that tell lies about American history and how it does not include appropriate amount of African American history along with it. Du Bois continued his writing by saying how unfair it is towards the misrepresented African Americans and for the children. After all, children are the next generation, therefore the future's outcomes. I understand Du Bois' argument because it certainly will ruin the children by learning a one-sided textbook or teaching.
