The beach is my happy place!

Whenever I want a true vacation, I go to the beach. Watching and listening to the waves, swimming in the ocean and jumping with the waves, collecting sea shells, building sand castles, getting buried in the sand...I love it all! The Gulf of Mexico is our favorite. Gulf Shores, Orange Beach, Destin, PCB...they are all wonderful!

Every year we spend time in the 1,000 Islands, and there is no place I would rather be than on the bank of the St. Lawrence watching the sunset. We fish, hike, kayak, boat, bird watch, star gaze, watch the fireflies, have fires, explore lighthouses and castles, and just adventure! We travel with a group of our closest friends, our youngest son still joins us the full time, our adult son comes for a night or two often bringing my mom, my husbands brother-in-law and nephew come a fish the waters for a few days- anyone we can convince to take the drive and enjoy the time with us!

I have not traveled much for a number of years, mainly because of my animals, especially my two goats, Mateo (the white one) and Marco (the little one). They need constant attention. So here is me traveling to my backyard to watch them.

However, I live about 2 miles from the Pacific Ocean and a beach where I like to take my little dog for a walk.

The Western Desert

I live in Indiana, but I am always drawn to the western desert. The landscape is breathtaking, and I enjoy watching the wildlife that reside in the area.

New Smyrna Beach

My family's favorite place to be is New Smyrna Beach, FL. My husband grew up in the area and we love going to see family, spend time at the beach, visit the crazy Flagler Avenue roosters, and enjoy lots of great food.

Trinity College Library

Ireland, in general, is my place of peace. There are few places I have traveled and felt at home or resonated with people. However, from the Burren to Dublin, Ireland is truly amazing. A place I will never get tired of visiting is Trinity College Library, which is also home to the Book of Kells.

Another fun fact for other Star Wars fans out there - this is the library that gave the inspiration for the Jedi Archives!

If you ever get the chance, please do not pass up a visit!

I know you all think I will say Disney Parks are my favorite places to travel. That is true, I do love to go there. However, there are so many places across the world that I want to travel to. I think we learn so much by traveling and how small our earth is. My next trip is to Japan in May!

My nephew and his family have lived there for 20 yrs so I have visited a few times but this past year I was able to go with my 86yo mom which made it even more special. Each time I visit I see or do something new - it never gets old!

Pismo Beach, California

I've spent 14 of the past 16 years living in the desert (4 years in the Mojave and 10 years in the Sonoran desert). As much as I love desert life, I spend the summers longing to be back where I grew up - the central coast of California! One place in particular - Pismo Beach - is one of my favorite places to travel. Every time I go back home, I go back here to body surf and go tide pooling. I love it! - Barry Regan

Traveling to See Family

We love to travel and there are so many places I want to go and tons that I have loved to visit throughout the years. For me, visiting family is always the best. One of the most special places for me is Walla Walla, WA where my grandmother lived and all the family would visit for holidays and summer breaks. It is now a winery destination and the downtown has been revitalized with lots of shops and restaurants. There is also a lot of history in the town and surrounding areas, plus great scenery, hiking, and lakes. ~Amy Smith

The people and the culture are truly unbelievable! Of course, the mountains and water too are amazing. I have been fortunate to visit here a few times, but the next time, I want to visit our distant family relations. To me, traveling to meet new people is the most rewarding! Jamaica and Burbank

Some of my favorite vacation memories are from very different places. I have stayed at Sandals Royal Caribbean in Jamaica twice and have absolutely loved it. It is by far the most relaxing vacation I have had. I have also visited Burbank, California and had a wonderful time. We did the Warner Brothers Studio Tour, saw live tapings of Big Bang Theory, That 70s Show, and the Tonight Show. It is fascinating to see all of the work that takes place behind the scenes!

One of the most powerful travels I had was to Peru. Before attending the UNFCC (United Nations Climate Change Conference -COP20 https://unfccc.int/event/cop-20) a visit to Machu Picchu was in order.

National Park of American Samoa

No I haven't been there yet!!! But if I could take a big trip this is where I would go. The only National Park south of the equator. This would be a big check on my NP bucket list.
