One physical feature that helped Mesopotamians settle where they did is the Tigris river which ran around the fertile crescent along with the Euphrates river. These rivers impacted Mesopotamia in a way so that if they built a city in between these rivers, there would be only two easy ways (other than crossing the rivers, and you would have to) to attack that city, so in theory, they would be able to thrive more than a city with all plains around it that is easy to attack.

Laws are important because if we did not have them the world would be chaos because anybody could do anything (kill, torture, etc.). Hammurabi’s tells me that Mesopotamians hated people who did anything wrong against them or even if they accidentally caused something to happen. Hammurabi’s code of laws were important because they kept Mesopotamia under control with punishments or each wrong doing so tat people do not want to commit wrong as much as they did before laws, Hammurabi’s code of laws are also important today because they influenced modern-day laws.

Class divisions

Three types of class division in Mesopotamia were: lower class, middle class, upper class (with extra class divisions in the different classes like lower middle class, upper middle class, lower upper class, etc.). The lower class could have been slaves, who would probably be able to harvest food and grind wheat, but, since they would just work the fields, they probably only knew how to work the fields. The middle class could have jobs like trading or writing, the scribes knew how to edge stone really well and the traders would know how to negotiate. The higher class would most likely be made up of priests, and kings, the priests would honor the god with sacrifices and the kings would keep their kingdom in shape and make sure that nobody is not following the laws. Class divisions were created in Mesopotamia because the Mesopotamians had time to specialize in different jobs so naturally, for people to not argue about who has the more important job, they had to list jobs so that there was only one ruler, even with all the other jobs.

The form of written that the Mesopotamians used was cuneiform. The people who would use cuneiform were the scribes because they had to write it for people to know what they mean, also the people would know what cuneiform is but they might not use it. The purpose of writing is so that we can have a written language that other people could understand so that we would be able to tell messages with symbols.
