I believe that schools must urgently prioritize equity and media literacy to best prepare students for an evolving world. As demographics shift and systems of power shape opportunities, education must center cultural competency and justice-oriented leadership to ensure all students thrive. In the unfortunate age of misinformation and rapid technological change, media literacy is essential for students to critically analyze information, engage responsibly in digital spaces, and challenge harmful narratives.

Schools should make a point of touching upon all of the information mentioned in the task cards, however with the amount of information and misinformation exponentially growing it is so important that we teach students how to navigate this. Students will be entering into a world and workforce where information is readily available and schools will need to help them navigate information.

With all of the shifts in the economy and with employment, it is important for schools to adapt to the changing working environments. Students need to be well prepared for the work force they are about to enter, and the current data shows that this is an area of improvement for schools.

Based on the trend card for science, technology, and information, I feel it's quite obvious that this is where we need to improve and prioritize. There are so many job opportunities as our an overwhelming percentage of people/businesses utilize an online presence and the fastest growing jobs continue to be in STEM fields. It can be harder in rural districts to expose students to advanced technology, but it is so important to expose them, offer advanced courses to meet the needs of the changing workforce, and prioritize learning how to safely interact online.

School in the US do not prioritize students learning a second language. Typically these are course/electives offered in middle or high school. Based on the information provided in the Trend Cards: Demographics, Identity, and Power, there will be a huge shift over the course of the next few years. More than half of the population will be another race other than white. The number of immigrants contributing to the workforce increases the need of multilingual learners. Students need to access to other languages starting earlier in their education journey.

I believe we need to immediately prioritize digital citizenship and how to find credible information within our current world of social media, AI and the multitude of information available online ( within the Science, Tech and Information dimension). I think if we do not teach students to think critically and decipher biased and incorrect information then they will not be able to decipher truth within the other dimensions as well as this one.

In talking about the health of our students the mental health crisis is an important issue that needs to be looked at and addressed across a students life. Schools will have to develop plans with the parents or guardians to address the unique mental health needs of our students. The stat that 40% of teenagers have thought about suicide is an alarming number.

After reviewing the Science, Technology, and Information category, I believe we should urgently prioritize finding valid and reliable sources of information. This needs to partner with critical thinking skills. Many students are not skeptical or questioning any of the "facts" they encounter online.
