Lori is a girl in highschool who does not have a phone at the beginning of the film. She feels different from everyone else and notably is. She's defined as lonely as seen throughout shots. It's hard for her to relate to others. Then her mother gets her a phone. After that she slowly gets addicted to her phone. She connects with people because of her phone. Throughout time you see her with her phone more and more to the point where those connections she once made are now replaced by her phone. By the end (repeat of first shot) of the film she blends into the crowd like everyone else.

The story is of a girl who does not have a phone, something just about everyone has. The story starts off with her doing things outside of electronics like reading, drawing, etc... Other kids are watching their phones, talking to their friends on the phone, listening to music, or watching videos together in contrast. Her mother finally gets her a phone, and it changes her life (very dramatically...). She begins to connect with others, and make friends who connect to the stuff she likes watching online. But after a while she begins getting addicted to her phone, always being on it, checking it, hearing it ring when it doesn't. She begins isolating herself from others to be with her phone. Her grades start slipping and the principal and her mother begin to get concerned. The story ends with her blending into the crowd
