Joanne, Josh, Jaimee, Erin.

They can increase crime with being with other offenders - a university of crime.
Prison standards go against Art.3 of the human rights act: prohibition of torture, inhumane or degrading treatment.
Ethically wrong due to certain circumstances
custodial sentences seperate prsioners from society for a temperaly time and when theyre released there is nothing stopping them from committing further crimes, recividism shows that prisons are a failed social experiment, rather than a factual response to crime.
multiple studies show the ineffectiveness of custodial sentences and is these very sentences and tough on crime approach that has led to an overcrowding of prison despite falling crime rates and decline in living standards in prison which directly affect inmates human rights.
morality is relative and imaginative therefore cannot be immoral, justice system is not for victims but for society as a whole.
In addition, 39% of people in prison in the UK are there without any rationale for public safety.

A custodial sentence also infringes on as many as five human rights, if we are to rehabilitate people into functioning members of society but deprive them from their human rights, would they not learn this as ethical behavior? Thus deepening the issue and effecting proper rehabilitation

It is morally/ethically acceptable, due to protecting the public, and a deterrent is needed to keep crime rates down. offenders need to be punished by an authorised body otherwise the public would become vigilantes. (purge)
If it is done this way it is honest and fair for all, so there isn't one rule or one and one for another.
In addition to punishing the offender it also gives the offender the opportunity to be rehabilitated, and change their behaviour.

Lost 17 years of his life, but received no apologies. Cannot get those years back.
-Wrongful custodial sentencing for TV licencing and Council Tax, serving full sentences for a petty crime and more serious crimes receiving suspending sentences.
-Prison doesn't always rehabilitate, and prison can in fact expand on criminality in the sense of an individual going to prison, joining gangs, and involvements with 🤬.
-If the convict wants to go to prison, then the system doesn't work.
