Michio Kaku is like a science preacher, in which his daughter, Michelle Kaku, states “recall her father, Michio Kaku, used the opportunity to explain intricate scientific concepts to his children.” These “opportunities” mentioned by his daughter are in relation to her childhood experiences. Michio is like a person you’d hear about in a fictional story, or some sci-fi movie, in which his most notable moments to the public eye are centered around science, specifically physics. Every article I read about him there are only positive words spoken to the point where the writers of these web articles (though admitting to there being little to no information on his family and private life) continue to describe the intensely close bond between him and his wife, or even his great parenting. He seems like a genuine man who just really loves, and is good at, science. What makes Michio so interesting is his scientific approach to the ‘what ifs’ and ‘imagine’ of our existence in this universe. It is also worth noting the website Michio Kaku made that is all about him, and the title of the website is literally his name. It also has one of those very weird formats where the information and material of the website is in the middle, and the exterior of that material is this immovable galaxy background. It’s just odd to me. But he’s chill.

The general field of science Kaku expertises in is theoretical physics, but within that field Kaku also expertises in string theory. Michio Kaku also is well known for being a futurologist. Michio Kaku explored Einstein’s work to create an equation that could summarize all physical laws of the universe, which is known as the Unified Field theory, and string theory is the current formulation of Einstein’s ongoing work. String field theory, a subset of string theory (who Kaku is the co-founder of), uses the mathematics of fields to explain string theory.

String theory is the idea that since gravity cannot be described nor placed into the standard model equation (which accounts for and describes how particles move) all particles must be shaped like strings that have tension and in turn can vibrate. This vibration varies depending on the type of particle and accounts for gravitons, aka; gravity, which the standard model equation does not.
Describing this to a younger person would go something like, "String theory is the idea that the tiny particles that make up everything in our world are actually shaped like and act as strings. They vibrate in different ways, and that vibration determines what type of particle they are."
