From the very first day to the last day, you are constantly being taught how to play new games, new cheers, how to interact with new people, etc. The best example I have of active learning from camp is making bracelets. When learning how to, it is very difficult to explain how to make it, but it's very easy to show someone. I couldn't understand how to make a bracelet by their explaining, but after watching, I learned, and I have taught several other people how to make those bracelets the same way I learned, and those people have since then taught their friends. 

A formal experience that has been rough is online school. I am constantly having to learn how to use new online sources. The game spikeball is hard to understand when being told how to play, but just jumping in and playing it made it so much easier for me to learn. 

A formal example would be in class. I am a very hands-on learner. I like to do things to learn, or visuals, etc. When I was in middle school we had to build a plant or animal cell to help us learn the parts of the cell. We learned how to "unravel" a reading passage. And one of the steps is "read the questions first." This is intentional because it allows me to have a goal when reading. I am not a big reader, and I usually don't do the reading for class unless I have a specific goal in mind. 

An informal example would be when playing softball. I always have a goal. I have never been very good at math, but as a child my mom told me when reading word problems to change the scenario into something that I'm interested in,  or to my friends names, etc. By doing this, I am relating the math to my own life, making it easier to read and do, as well as making it more interesting to myself.

I am a very slow learner, so working with people gives me the chance to ask questions and to hopefully catch on quicker. While being in Memphis my friends and I have utilized the group study rooms in. the library, and it has helped me so much with the fast pace that college classes move in. 

Also when playing softball, if there is one person on the field that is prepared or willing to. play as a team member, then something will. go wrong. Teams are all. about everyone getting together and working together, and if someone doesn't help or participate then. it doesn't work.
