They are not a nation-state because their nation does not correspond with a state's boundaries. Their ethnicity is spread out in many different states. The Kurdish people are fighting for an independent state, Kurdistan, and more autonomy. There has been a Iraqi-Kurdish Civil War which included a genocide of 50,000 Kurdish people led by the president of Iraq, Sadaam Hussein. Currently, the rest of the world is not involved in the Turkish-Kurdish War, but the United States, France, the United Kingdom, and Canada are all involved on the Kurdish sides of the Syrian-Kurdish Islamist War.
