I chose the topic child abuse because it is very important for all educators to know how important it is to report child abuse and also identifying solutions that will keep students safe on their school campus.

Why is this topic important to educators?
Reporting child abuse is extremely important for educators because the amount of quality time we spend with our students gives us ample opportunities to suspect or even sometimes stop child abuse (Hogelin, 2013).

What legal or ethical issues are mentioned related to this topic?
Most of the legal and ethical issues are influenced by the Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act
(CAPTA). This act gave purpose to creation of the National Center of Child Abuse and Neglect, which focused on precise information regarding the extent of child abuse (Hogelin, 2013).
