The author’s motivation for becoming a writer like Toni Morrison is implied to be having similar skin tone as well which implies that they are the same. One of the details I noticed was her hatred for the Spanish language due to a hateful Spanish teacher, for that she realized the quietness and calmness books made her life. After this hatred she realized her curiousness for books and love for familiarity. She wanted to express her love and gratitude for Toni Morrison but couldn’t due to her lack of knowledge in English.
