They created a platform for educators to use in assigning lessons and assessing progress. Students can learn English through their native language. Instructions usually have the option to be spoken as well, for younger students not able to read in their native language. Another product they have, the Duolingo ABC app, is geared towards teaching native English speaking children how to read.
