         <description><![CDATA[<div>-Astlay did a great job interviewing our faculty member.<br>-There were one or two silent pauses but that was mostly because she didnt have time to scan the interview questions beforehand<br>-There were a great amount of follow up questions that kept the interview flow very natural as if we were having a conversation<br>-She was very open to let one of us jump in with follow up questions that we had, therefore there was nothing that I think she could've elaborated on that we didn't do so ourselves<br>-I noticed that when we used the empathy cards it was hard to get away from them and ask interview questions because we got so much information and stories from those cards<br>-Our faculty mentioned that we should tailor our questions to the faculty member. To do this, we had to first learn about the different types of faculty positions and what they mean in order to ask better questions<br><br><br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><br><br>Kelly Ivy Math Graduate assistance 35 currently pregnant&nbsp;<br>&nbsp;<br><br>From St Louis Missouri&nbsp;<br><br>Originally came here to go to go to Howard University and decided to stay in the area&nbsp;<br><br>At Howard she was a math major and education minor so that lead her to here<br><br>She is a 3rd year PHD student in Math Education&nbsp;<br><br><br>1. What inspired you to get into the field you are in now?&nbsp; I always wanted to be a teacher I didn’t really choose math until hs junior year what inspired me was the hs I went to it was very few black math teachers which inspired here to be one St Louis is very divided the city school are divided Ferguson the city schools are predominately black but parents choose to send their children to county school for better education that isprodominatly white and she wanted to be around black people&nbsp; that pushed her to Howard&nbsp;<br><br><br>2. Describe your ideal student ?<br><br>Student that gives 100% effort they are persistent when they don’t understand super hardworking that gives a lot of effort<br><br>3. Disconnect with student<br><br>It really is not a disconnect she connects well with her students<br><br><br>4 Disconnect with Faculty member&nbsp;<br><br>Probably when she was teaching high school it was a teacher that didn’t want to give a student another chance that didn’t do well on an exam she got her way but the teacher did not get that<br><br>5 Their is no perfect teacher teachers have to reflect daily reflection is important how did my lesson plan go how did my week go you need time to breathe and reflect<br><br>Goals for 2018 finish my comprehensive exams they are two big papers 30 pages once you finish those your transcript will say advance to candidate you write your desertion unless you get that&nbsp;<br><br>Goals in next 5 years&nbsp;<br><br>2020 I graduate I don’t prefer toteach adult I want to have a position in the school system that helps professional development for teachers on how to be teachers&nbsp;<br><br><br><br>Part time student average student take 4 years I took 7 years to graduate part time student and worked three jobs instead of graduating Howard in 4 I graduated in 7 when you see the people you came in with pass you you have to deal with but it helped because she wasn’t ready to teach then because the high school students will look at her like a big sister as opposed.<br><br><br>Relationships matter the better the relationship the more effort they will give if they are close and comfortable &nbsp;<br><br><br>What is the difference between Maryland and Howard Students the biggest difference from Howard to Umd was faculty at Howard look out for you your relationship with faculty goes beyond the class room for example the first teaching job she had in dc public school was the principle was really close with and Howard created a relationship with Howard she was a student teacher but that principle didn’t have any positions available but she talked to another principle who went to Howard and it was a no brainer.&nbsp;<br><br>Best teaching experience was Eastern Senior Hs in Washington DC<br><br><br>Roosevelt HS in Dc summer school<br><br>Eastern for 2 years&nbsp;<br><br>Left Eastern taught at Banker HS in DC<br><br>While teaching them she was also teaching an evening credit recovery at Woodson<br><br>What was your greatest resources&nbsp;<br><br>Veteran faculty really help her and was a great resource for her other&nbsp;<br><br>math teachers who was teaching and graduated at the same time with her&nbsp;<br><br></div>]]></description>
