  • For instance, a person who speaks many languages might not be smarter or less intellectual than someone who knows only one language. He or she has only picked up the knowledge via exposure, whereas IQ tests look at one's capacity for learning new things rather than what they have previously taught them.
  • IQ tests play a less important role outside the classroom or in classrooms where the instruction focuses more on communication and interaction.

  • It discourages risk-taking, which is the necessary skill in learning language process. It was found that the adolescents who are self-conscious tend to face such problem. 
  • Participants' inhibition was reduced after they get drank by a small amount of alcohol in a study as they had found performed better in pronunciation.
  • Inhibition may take a longer time to communicate in L2 learning as they seemed to avoid interaction using second language because they might be afraid of embarrassing themselves when speaking incorrectly. However, they might as well produce proper grammar due to their obsession with being accurate.
