Welcome to our "Moisture Sensor" Padlet!

This padlet includes the "Moisture Sensor" part based on our Urban Farming project. As an IT-class we've decided to develop a project which is splitted in three groups and combines nature along with the technology of today. If you want to have a look at the other groups, please click on the certain padlet in the right upper corner to switch from padlet to padlet with just one click!

Our Task: Using an Arduino NANO along with a PCB with extern supply support, a 4-Channel Relais and last but not least, the 2 pumps and tubes to faciliate a water supply for the plants in the respective floors.

Thank you for considering us, we appreciate your visit!

Greetings from Germany!

Once we begin with our project we had to create our plans for this project and therefore, our topical discussion included every single component and structure depending on our part for this project. First of all, we began with our documentation for our project, which includes 14 pages along with a "Weekly-Report" and images of our weekly status. We've created and completed our project with a huge amount of motivation and joy.

As you might know, the structure and blueprint of a project is a requirement for everything, it's a part of our "way to the success". This is our plan and it's structure for our project or to be precise, for our moisture sensor group. This has been made with a designer program called "PAPDesigner".

To measure the moisture with our Arduino NANO, we need the Arduino IDE software to develop our functions within a source code. We developed for both sensors the respective functions, which determines the sensor values, measures the moisture within a number range and returns the output as percentage values on the serial monitor within the software itself. You can check out our source codes below.

5. Circuit Topologies

We had to draw multiple topologies to check it's realization. We decided to implement and apply the Final Model topology that fit properly depending on the functionality and integrity, so we build a proper circuit topology for our irrigation system. To build this we need to consider the conditions of the hardware components that is going to be in usage. Therefore, we'll decide how to implement it (parallel or series) and which ports of the Arduino NANO is required for our Moisture Sensor. Once that done, we need to check the integrity of our hardware. During this process we communicate and exchange with the “LUX-Light LED” group to ensure which ports do they need for the automatic light system and devise a proper solution that both groups can work with only one Arduino. We also talked to the 3D-Print group to check where we can lay our water tube, if there is enough space, otherwise we need to find another solution like a minor change based on the 3D models or a smaller watertube.
