https://padlet.com/LauraHarring/About With the starring role in David Lynch’s Mulholland Drive with Naomi Watts, Laura Harring was likened to legendary stars Rita Hayworth and Ava Gardner by Roger Ebert and the International Herald Tribune. Since then, Laura Harring has appeared in a number of other films and television shows alongside top names like Javier Bardem, John Travolta, and Denzel Washington, William Hurt, Forest Whitaker, Ed Westwick, Emma Roberts. She also appeared in several episodes of Law and Order, as well as recurring roles on the critically acclaimed television show The Shield, and a recurring arc on one of the top rated shows on television, NCIS LA. Before pursuing acting, Laura Harring studied at the esteemed Aiglon College in Switzerland, a top International boarding school. She subsequently traveled around the foothill of the Himalayas volunteering her time to improve the lives of local villagers. An experience which she called, a life changer. A family from the village invited Laura for lunch and when she showed up with her translator, she sat for 15 minutes waiting for them to sit down too. Much to her surprise, the entire family fasted that day to give Laura their portion of food. It was such experiences that opened Laura's heart and she returned to Texas humble and open. While traveling, she backpacked throughout Europe and Asia, often called a sleeping bag home. At times she would be teaching yogic breathing techniques and other times meditating in nature under the moonlight. Upon returning to the United States and earning the title of Miss USA, Laura felt honored to make a difference, touring veterans hospitals, orphanages, senior homes, and often stayed over time to sign the last autograph. Laura Harring continued her passion for philanthropy through the David Lynch Foundation, as a goodwill ambassador, and years later she has traveled to Africa with Stop Hunger Now, which is now called Rise Against Hunger. She believes change happens with each one of us sending each other loving thoughts of peace, fulfillment and harmony. She also believes that happy people are nice people.
