Learning a language brings many communicative and academic benefits, even from just learning how to speak a new language fluently. This exposure can result in a sensitivity to people different from oneself, another important quality we want to cultivate in our youth.” This shows how including the cognitive, grammatical, academic, and general benefits of learning a new language and achieving fluency. Being exposed to culture of other places and being more open-minded is also an important quality that the youth should be exposed to. A counterargument is that people rarely achieve fluency, it’s not a very interesting class people take, and foreign language classes are often pointless and only for colleges or family. However, a rebuttal is with time an effort and making a foreign class mandatory skilled fluent teachers, an improved curriculum.  and better teaching methods. People can swiftly achieve fluency and learn about a foreign culture while improving their skills academically. In conclusion, the long lasting benefits of learning a new language in multiple areas outweigh the cons that can be easily fixed.
