All the races, including the Indians and Malays teenagers, were taught Japanese language in school. This shows that in terms of education teenagers were given equal rights to learn Japanese. In other words the teenagers were forced to learn the language. Before Japanese occupation, students still went to school, but were not forced to learn Japanese, to learn English and Mother tongue. Some felt school is not compulsory. But now, after the Japanese occupation, teenagers still go to the school to study and its a compulsory not a force on teenages

A Malay boy and a Indian boy writing Japanese words/letters on the board.

Japanese respected their emperor in Tokyo. They also wanted the others to follow the same as they did. This routine was very new to the local teenagers. They were in a confused state of mind as everything seemed so different from the British ruling. This shows that, teenagers during the Japanese occupation were in unstable and confused mind set as the changes was drastic.

''each day, the Japanese flag was raised and everyone present bowed to the North-East in the direction of the Japanese Emperor in Tokyo.''

The teenagers can interact with people from different races. The evidence is ''It was the first time I learnt about other people how they lived, their difficulties, and their problem.''
Before the Japanese occupation, the teenagers didn't get to interact with one another. They stay together with their own races, but after the Japanese occupation came, the teenagers are able to communicate with one another, knowing people from different races well.
This source tells me that it is dangerous for teenagers to watch something they like or do and they felt very insecure. The evidence is ''You watched in fear. At anytime they could came.''
Before the Japanese occupation the teenagers feel very comfortable as they can do whatever they want, the teenagers feel safe but after the Japanese occupation the Japanese feel very scared because they feel that going to cinema is dangerous as the Japanese might suddenly appear and take away young men to work on the Death Railway.

They didn't know anything about greens till a week after the boys were getting scabies, what they used at first was a hibiscus leaves, a common plant in Singapore.
