Today, being one of the most well known artists of all time and setting the foundation of contemporary modern art, he was greatly looked over during his life. He suffered from mental illness, lived in poverty, was overworked, and was malnourished. Although his work is priceless and prized today, he only sold one piece in his lifetime.
