1. Group work is a good idea to activate students to be more involved in the exercise. They can exchange ideas. The students can also make presentations (create external motivation). Exchange between the groups, not always be in a group which is of your interest, but come out of your comfort zone and work with others.
2. Clear tasks for the group, what the students are supposed to do. Also a good introduction to bring everyone to a similar level. Implement more interactive presentations (vidos, pictures, quizzes, simple tests, excursions to see how the theory is implemented into practice and life, include real life examples e.g bring something from outside or someone: a patient from a hospital to be examined by the students). Presentations/slides can be available online for the students. Giving the students lecture notes before the lecture, so the students can prepare themselves for the class.
3. Social aspects - grouping students, a good interaction between the teacher and the students, students giving feedback to each other, having online discussion forum where students can talk and discuss problems or issues with the current assignment.
4. Flexible teaching approaches - e.g. group work, coming to the black board, asking each other questions.

Can you discuss this with your students or not? Depends for the teacher if he/she wants to stick to their plan or not. A teacher could give students different options. Some courses present the options for student to decide which part of their course makes up most of their grade – or give the option to let them do extra work on their “strong part” to make that count as a part of their grade too.

Offer office hours – or hours where the students are not required to come, but can come if they do need the extra help. For office hours with many students expected: make some sort of “booking system”.

As the course progresses: have less and less direct help from the teacher
