The road not taken by robert frost
1) 9/10
2) This poem reminds me when I am making a decision. I don't know which choice to choose but I could only choose one. It's just like choosing a path in a forest or maze. Then, I always wonder if I made the correct decision after choosing one option. I wonder if I should change my mind. However, I usually stay on the chosen track.
3) "I-I took the one less travelled by,
and that has made all the difference." I could relate that we usually only make one choice in decision making situations and there will always be a difference between all the options. Sometimes you prefer to choose an option which many other people have chosen and not the other which only a small group of people have done so because you want to follow the majority or that you think it's easier. It's not always wise to do so, the harder option may help you develop problem solving skills and perseverance.
By Grace Loh 1E3 (17)

1)8/10
2)This poem should be initiating almost every part of our lives. Life is strange, with ups and downs."Success is failure turned inside out" this is the line that resonates with me as sometimes when you meet with failure, it can turn into success if you try hard to solve your failure and really believe that success is just within a hand's reach. This poem reminds us that in life there will be challenges and you may meet failure but you got to work hard and believe that success is achievable and live your life without any regrets.
3) I think that "Success is failure turned inside out and It might have been" are the most important lines in the poem as they are the two lines to encourage you in times of doubt and right now these are the lines that I need.
-Su Yan Xin 1E3 (30)

1) 8/10
2) During my math test, I got a 8/30 for a math test. Then, my parents scolded me for getting such low marks. Even our math teacher, Ms Ong, told me to not give up. I can do my normal homework and revision tests, why not can I do the test paper? Sometimes when you are stuck with a failure, you should never give up. You may rest but you must never quit and pick yourself up to try again. A failure can't determine what a person you are so whenever you have a chance, try again and who knows, you might succeed.
3) I like the lines "Rest if you must, but you don't quit" and "Success is failure turned inside out". You may never know when you are going to succeed in career, school or even projects but as you will face a downfall, you must never quit as there is a always shining light waiting for you at the end of the race. Take it like a race, you may have rested during the race or run slower than the others but in the end, you are still going to finish the race no matter what. There may be also many times of failure but if you look at it in the positive way, you will might succeed someday. So always look on the positive side of failure and not the negative. Think positively! :D
By Joshua 1E3 (35)

1)8/10
2)Yes. It reminds me of when i first started CCA (NCC sea). It was especially hard to make new friends and undergo strenuous physical trainings. The physical trainings were tough and it makes me feel like dying. I failed many times when attempting to do certain tasks like doing pushups , running around the school multiple times. I felt like quitting this CCA as it felt like i can't handle the adversities i go through in this CCA. I failed to realise that Failure is the key to success. However, after a talk with my parents, failing only makes me stronger and more persistent. I learnt to not give up during hard times and to keep on trying. We can never give up or we will never be able to achieve what we hope to dream.
3)I like the lines "You may succeed with another blow" and "Success is failure turned inside out" I like these lines because it means you never always succeed when you first try it out. It takes many attempts and effort to succeed. We cannot give up without trying if we want to chase our dreams.

-Ivan (19)

1) 8/10
2) Yes. Once my mother told me to stop being a couch potato and go trekking in a nearby forest. We were overseas at that time. It was a place where forests were plentiful. Not having much experience, I refused to go with my family and packed things that I thought I would need. But, little did I know that these were not even close to enough. I then set off venturing into the wilderness not knowing of the dangerous and possibly life-threatening situations that lay ahead. A while later, I was exhausted the weight of my bag was not helping. I decided to rest which turned into a napping session. When I woke up after what seemed like a fortnight, I looked ahead full of energy. That was when I got the shock of my life. Laid ahead of me were two pathways. Both looked the same. I looked for my map in my backpack but thanks to my poor outdoor skills, I forgot to bring it. I looked back hoping I could retrace my steps but it was covered up by leaves. Fortunately, my parents eventually came to rescue me.
3) The most important lines are ' Yet knowing how way leads on to way' and ' I doubt if I should ever come back'. This tells us that the author is starting to regret coming to the forest as she came unprepared for the tough challenges that lay ahead. This tells readers that they should always expect the unexpected even before it happens. This will help us solve challenges easily without fear.

- Salford (14)

I felt very sad as I did not failed before. I felt like giving up and felt like not taking higher chinese in P6 anymore as it was too difficult for me. However, my chinese teacher encouraged me and told me I shouldn't give up easily. She also told me my areas of improvement. I would revise my weakness and do more revision. In another test, I passed my test with flying colours, I was thankful for my teacher calling me not to give up.
3) "Life is strange with its twists and turns
As every one of us sometimes learns" This tells us that although there are difficult times in life, we shouldn't give up easily and learn from our mistakes.
Yan Kei (22)

1) 9/10
2) This poem reminds me of the time when I first started my CCA in Primary school, at the age of nine. Back then, my CCA is Brass Band, and the instrument I'm assigned to is trombone. I love my CCA, however, sweet comes after bitterness. Band's training timing were long, in terms of time( 3 or 3 and a half hours ), in terms of days ( 3 days a week ). We often have to hold our instrument up for at least two and a half hours. Given the fact that my conductor are both trombonist in popular bands, they set a high standard for us. Adapting to the weight of the instrument wasn't easy, let alone having perfect holding, accurate position of slide and sitting positions. Not only that, the muscles in our face are often tired and pain after every practice. Band wasn't very popular in our school back then, and we are a young band that just started, hence, we have way fewer members compared to other CCAs. We then have to play louder each performance given it's always at open space. I'm glad I didn't give up, unlike most of my bandmates, they left band once they get the opportunity. Now, I've participated in SYF thrice, and I'm still in band. I'm glad I listened to my conductor and didn't skive. Others can tell that I hold the trombone like a real trombonist. And I've adapt to the pain, the pulling, and the positions.
3) I think the most important lines are " Don't give up though the pace seems slow-- You might succeed with another blow." To me, it means, you might have been holding in there, working really hard to get what you want to achieve, for a long time, however, that moment of success have still yet to come. Hang in there and persist, as it's often the last key in the bunch that opens the lock. Who knows, the next moment is your moment of glory and success.
~Sherlyn (8)

1. 9
2. It reminds me of an incident when I am in primary 4 during the adventure camp. We were challenging the rock climbing since everyone in my class never had a experience trying. I have the same feeling as them too, I'm excited and feeling afraid too, because I, also, does not have any experience at all. But most importantly, I'm scared of heights. I do not even have courage to ride on a roller coaster. I was trembling when it is my turn, while others try to keep me up since I am the first one to go up. And when I was up, I just saw the few last rocks on top of the roof. I tried to pull myself up, but my hands are lack of energy, I think I can't, and so, I gave up. I gave the uncle below a signal, he ask:"Are you sure?", and I said yes. he let me down, but I felt a little bad, because maybe if, if I tried more, or maybe 1 more time, I may just reach. And it prove me right when I went to a carnival 2 months later and tried the same thing, I manage to do it. That is when I truly regret. But things that are done had been done. There's no more going back. It teaches me a lesson of having perseverance when doing things because you may just finish and do it well.
3.Don't give up though the pace since slow, You may succeed with another blow. Just like my case, you never know when you will succeed, so why not just try for a bit more to get a higher chance?

-Yu Hui(09)

I didn't have the confidence to speak well enough infront of the teachers. I felt hopeless towards oral and thought of giving up that time. Although my English teacher is not really pleased with my results, but she encouraged me not to give up and spent some of her time on helping me with my oral a few days per week, giving me advises on how to improve and where are my mistakes. During the next oral, I improved a lot and passed. Although it wasn't a high mark, but I felt a sense of satisfaction and was relieved that I didn't give up during that time.
Q3. 'As every one of us sometimes learns And many a failure comes about.' I find these lines important as we would always have a place to improve on and learn, while at the same time, we would go through failure but if we don't give up, there is always hope to success.
Zi Xuan (21)

1. I rate it 8.
2. Yes. It reminds me of me dancing in my lower primary. I was new to dancing and had barely any experience in dancing at that time. Me, together with other p1 dancers, was made to learn dance in the second lesson for a performance. The instructor was strict and make sure we does it well. As a new dancer, my skills is not as good as the others of the same age. I struggled to learn the dance move. The instuctor later on told us if we do not do well, we would not be able to join the performance. I was thinking of giving up at that time. During rehearsal, we were made to smile l while dancing but i was too exhausted and worried to smile. I was worried that i will not be able to perform together with the others. Luckily, i did not give up. I tried my very best every time and gradually, my dancing skill improve and i made it into the performance.
3. I think the most important 2 lines are "when care is pressing you down a bit, rest if you must, but don't you quit". Because it tells us that we can take a break but we shouldn't ever quit. We shouldn't give up halfway just because we meet with an obstacle.
By Goh Cai Xuan, Teresa(16) 1e3

Q1: 9/10
Q2: Yes, it reminds me of NCC(SEA) camp where I had to learn many difficult skills and waking up earlier than my usual time. I had to learn how to put on my uniform quickly and it was difficult. I had only been in the CCA for less that a term so I was still quite slow.the most difficult part was folding the sleeves. Every time I folded the sleeves, it would always turn up funny and I would get scolded by my seniors. Despite many failures I manage to get the hang of it. I also had to go. Through strenuous physical training and of course we had to learn bans and hitches which is knot tying. We had to remember the uses for the knots and how to tie them. I was difficult as I had never knew any thing about knots. another experience would be hiking 5 kilometers. It was very exhausting as there were many flights of stairs I had to climb.
Q3: My two favorite lines would be"It may be near when it seems so far; so stick to the fight when you're hardest hit-- It's when things seem worst that you must not quit". To me these two lines means a lot to me as it describe life very well. There will always be many challenges thrown at you and you must overcome them.

Linfred (1E3) 28

[[ Faleesya Nadyne (13) ]]
1. 8 / 10
2. Yes, it does. I have come across some difficulties in my life such as trying to learn, choreograph and perform a dance within 2 months for my Primary 5 Teachers' Day Celebration. My group took a long time trying to find ideas to re-choreograph some parts of the dance and learning it as well. We had to perform first along with the other students participating as a rehearsal, and because of the time strain, we made some mistakes along the way. However we persevered and managed to perform on the day itself to the best of our abilities.
3. ' For all those sad words of tongue or pen,
The saddest are these: "It might have been!" '
I like those lines as they signify the regret of not doing or getting something they want. For example getting a CCA that we do not really like and imagine what it would have been like if they had managed to get accepted into the CCA of their choice.

Q1. 9 out of 10.
Q2. This poem reminds me of me failing my Chinese during the start if my Primary 6 year. Because I knew very little about the subject, I still tried to absorb whatever could be understood by myself, knowing I couldn’t pass easily. I failed the first test in that year, but I persevered and studied harder. Sadly, I still failed my second test. Even if that test disappointed me, I continued to persevere. I requested for help from my parents if needed to. In the end, at the end of the Term 3 I scraped a pass in that Chinese test. I was finally relieved I earned myself the reward I was hoping for from all my studying.
Q3. I like ‘Rest if you must, but don’t you quit.’ and ‘And you want to smile, but you have to sigh.’ The first sentence stated shows that if you face a hardship, you can back down, but never surrender. No matter what, somehow you have to get past that obstacle. The second sentence stated shows that everyone wants to live life freely without any troubles on their shoulders, but that is something everyone only can wish for. In everyone’s life, they have to suffer at some point of their life.

1)8/10
2)Yes. This poem reminds me of the time when I joined band in Primary 5. As I had no music background, I had to start from the bottom and learn music theories and notes. During band practice, all the other band-mates all learnt very fast and understand the music piece well except me, struggling to read all the music notes. I often have to ask my juniors how to do the fingerings for a particular note on the clarinet( the instrument I was playing) and was sometimes mocked for being so slow. We were learning at such a fast pace that I couldn’t catch up. I always wondered to myself, maybe I should just give up, then all the troubles would go away. But that wasn’t going to be the case. I always had to borrow my instrument home to spend hours practicing my fingerings, learning the music scale slowly. Even after a tired day at school, I will still take some time to practice. I am very glad to have encouraging seniors who supported me and gave me tips on how to improve. I knew my hard work didn’t go to waste when the junior band was given a piece of music to perform during Mid-Autumn Festival. I was ecstatic that I could read the music notes. The performance was a success and I learned not to quit, that hard work, preparation is the key to success.
3) I feel that the most important lines in the poem are: success is a failure turned inside out, It’s when things seem worst that you must not quit.
We will always have ups and downs in our life, but we shouldn’t avoid the problems and should try to solve them. We are not born perfect, so we have our weaknesses and strengths. We should work harder if we’re weaker in a particular subject and not be disheartened when we don’t reach the goals we set for ourselves.Instead, we should persevere when we face difficulties and not quit.
—Pauline Tan (31) 1E3

1) 9/10
2) Yes. It reminds of a problem I overcame during my primary school days. In Primary 5, i remember struggling greatly in Math. Since Math is not really my cup of tea, i took a longer time than others to grasp the concept properly. There were also multiple times when i really just could not solve the problem sum. Every time it was exam day, i would blank out and start tearing up. In class i would always see my classmates racing through questions answering them with accuracy which in turn would make me feel depressed. After every exam, the invigilator would always say that i look really stressed so after my teacher heard about this she started helping me. During lessons, she would get me to participate and engage during her lessons. This really helped me as i was able to get out of my comfort zone and actually clarify my doubts and misunderstandings. By doing this, i saw a tremendous improvement in my results as i improved by 30 marks each exam! This thought me that perseverance and courage is crucial in life to succeed and that if we do not know something we should ask someone fro help and not suffer alone.
3) I really love the line, 'When you want to smile, but you have to sigh' and 'You may succeed with another blow' These lines really struck a cord in my heart as sometimes life puts us in such situations that we may not be able to succeed at that point of time be it other or family problems. However, even if we are in such situations, we should never give up and focus on what we want to do. Life is tough but it will always get better later. We just have to look ahead with positivity and patience. Also, it is not always important to succeed in our first try, life always gives us a second chance and everyone deserves a second chance as no one is perfect. Everyone makes mistakes .We just have to learn from them and improve from them. Another thing I would like to add is that always look on the bright side as the glass is always half full and never half empty! Everyone is different and you are unique in your own special way...
-Aditi Jain (2) 1E3

Q1) 9/10
Q2)This poem reminds me of my prelims. Right before my PSLE, I was feeling very stress and studying very hard. Knowing that prelims were going to hard as a challenge for the sake of letting us work even harder, know our standards and how well we will most likely do for our PSLE. Unfortunately, the prelims were quite tough. I did not do very well for my prelims. Although I felt disheartened as I have spent much time studying thinking that I will score well, I studied even harder to make sure that my PSLE score will prove myself wrong.Although I did not get the best grades I wanted, but I will keep encouraging myself and make sure I will be my best.
Q3) My two favourite lines of the poem must be”Don’t give up though the pace seems slow—You may succeed with another blow” I feel that this will help motivate me to study hard as I’m am not doing very well for most of my subjects but if I put in more effort, slowly I will get better.

Q1) 8/10
Q2) Yes. It reminds me of the difficulties I had with English in primary 4 and 5. I struggled to cope with English most of the times and always scored one of the lowest in class. I often get punished by my parents because of getting bad marks for English. But I never gave up on my English and studied very hard for future examinations, hoping to get better marks to make my parents proud of me.Luckily,my hard work paid off and my English results rised drastically compared to the previous one. Although it still wasn't very close with the top English scorers in class, It still made me more confident in myself and also made me believe that working hard is an important key to success.
Q3) My two favourite lines of the poem is "Success is a failure turned inside out" and "You may succeed with another blow". These two sentences really makes me feel energised if I am fighting with against my problems because if a person is meeting difficulties in his life, these two sentences can make him feel that success is near ,putting confidence and positive energy inside him and therefore empowering him to fight against the problem met.

1) 8/10
2) The poem remind me of the time when PSLE was coming in a few weeks time. I had trouble with my math and everytime i solve a problem sum i always thinks that i solved it correctly but i realise it was wrong after i got my paper back. i felt like giving up studying math and just focus on other subjects to pull my score up. When the teacher made us estimate my score for PSLE with the prelim results, i was so shocked that i got lower than 200. From then on, i tried my best to study for math and minimise the careless mistakes that i always make. Fortunately, i scored a decent aggregate for PSLE. This achievement made me felt accomplish in math.
3) I think the most important lines are "When care is pressing you down a bit, Rest if u must, but dont you quit." You should rest when u feel that stress is pressing on u too much, u should always take a rest. But u should never give up.
