Through this course, I hope to learn various effective instructional and assessment strategies for reading and language arts. With this knowledge, I can adapt my teaching strategies to the diversity of my students.

An interesting fact about me is that I have never had a brain freeze or been stung by a bee before.

I hope to learn strategies that will allow me to effectively teach young children how to read. I would also like to learn how to facilitate reading comprehension.

An interesting fact about me is that one of my essays, an ethnography regarding the digital divide in immigrant communities during the pandemic was added to a book and recently published by Penn State. So I guess, I am published :)

An interesting fact about me is that I read The Masque of the Red Death by Edgar Allan Poe last week, and I loved it. I plan to read more of Edgar Allan Poe's books this week.

What you hope to learn and get out of this course: How to encourage my students read in Mandarin! Seems very hard when you read in different language. I did book club last year but it wasn't very successful like their english book club. I want to learn some strategies about how yo create book club for a foreign language!
Interesting Fact about me: I love little kids. I prefer teaching TK but now fell in love with Fifth grader. I have danced since I was four years old. I am very funny.

If not teaching, desired grade level: I would like to work with 2nd or third grade students in the future.
What you hope to learn and get out of this course: I hope to learn how to spark a love of reading and joy in reading in my students. I don't think I experienced it much in my elementary years as i only read for assignments not in my own free time. However, I do believe that certain experiences that children have in their K-12 years in regard to reading will encourage them to be lifetime lovers of reading. Even though I didn't really have much of that experience in elementary, I have it now through listening to audiobooks and I hope to share that joy with my students.

An interesting fact about me is that I just got married this past February to my high school sweetheart of nine years.

My name is Ilene, and I currently work for a nonprofit organization called LEARN. Specifically, I work with High School students in an afterschool program where we offer general tutoring, clubs, field trips and food. The district in which I work for is Whitter District. I also majored in Liberal Studies here at Cal State LA where I received my BA this past May, my dream job is to work at an Elementary School with 3rd-5th grade kiddos.

I hope to learn as much as possible on how to get my students to want to read but also enjoy what they are reading in a fun effective way.

One interesting fact about me is I love Disneyland and Food!

My desired grade level would be between kinder -2nd grade mainly because of the fun activities I can hope to do with them. I also think it is one of the first core memory for young students to learn to love coming to school and being that educator for them.
What you hope to learn and get out of this course: 

Through this course I hope to learn new strategies, concept, and activities I can do with my future classroom for this reading and language arts as well in learning how I can support students if they have difficulty.

Some Interesting facts about me would be :

Some interesting facts about me would be I am a huge disney adult. I try to go at least every year in the summer with my best-friend which has basically became a tradition with both of us . Another interesting fact about me would be I actually majored in sociology as an undergrad and was in my third year of college to fully decide to join the credential program to become a teacher.

Current Position: I am a recreational leader at an after-school program, a substitute teacher, and a delivery driver for my family's business.

Current district: I work at West Covina Unified School District.

Desired grade level (not teaching): I would love to teach third or fourth grade. I am also open to second grade as well.

What I hope to learn and get out of this course: I hope that I can be better prepared for the RICA. I get nervous when it comes to big tests.

What you hope to learn and get out of this course: I hope to learn strategies to guide my students to the Joys of reading. Like some of my peers have mentioned I also did not enjoy reading in Elementary. I hope to change that for my students.
