Just after Old Major past away, two of the young pigs, Napoleon and Snowball, take over and prepare for the Rebellion. Animals rise and get rid of Mr. Jones, the drunk and careless farmer. They rename it "Animal Farm" and adopt The Seven Commandments of Animalism. 
Snowball and Napoleon take charge over the farm and educate the animals. While one pig teaches how to read and write, the other coaches young puppies on the principles of Animalism. 
Several days after, Mr. Jones and his men break in and attack the farm with one aim in mind, getting the farm back. The animals were already prepared, caught them by surprise and defeated the farmers. 
Napoleon gives the farm another look changing the governance structure of the farm, replacing meetings with a committee of pigs who will run the farm.  
In that time Napoleon had a brilliant idea where by the help of Squealer they could build a windmill that would be beneficial. The animals work harder with the promise of easier lives with the windmill. When the animals find the windmill destroyed after a strong storm, Napoleon and Squealer convinced the animals that Snowball is trying to sabotage their project. Mr. Fredrick attacks the farm, using blasting powder to blow up the restored windmill. Though the animals win the battle, many were injured including Boxer the horse. Despite his injuries, Boxer continues working harder and harder, until he faints while working. 
Years pass, and the windmill is rebuilt along with construction of another windmill, which makes the farm a good amount of income. The ideals of both pigs were highly different are were all forgotten. 
Many of the animals that took part in the revolution were already dead.
The pigs start to resemble humans, The Seven Commandments are merged into a single phrase: "All animals are equal but some animals are more equal than others". Napoleon holds a dinner party for the pigs and local farmers to celebrate the new union. Napoleon- He's a pig who emerges as the leader of Animal Farm after the Rebellion. Based on Joseph Stalin, Napoleon uses military force (his nine loyal attack dogs) to intimidate the other animals and consolidate his power. Napoleon's greatest crime, however, is his complete transformation into Jones — although Napoleon is a much more harsh and stern master than the reader is led to believe Jones ever was. His final act of propaganda — changing the Seventh Commandment to "ALL ANIMALS ARE EQUAL / BUT SOME ARE MORE EQUAL THAN OTHERS"

Snowball -  The pig who challenges Napoleon for control of Animal Farm after the Rebellion. Based on Leon Trotsky, Snowball is intelligent, passionate, eloquent, and less subtle and devious than his counterpart, Napoleon. Snowball seems to win the loyalty of the other animals and cement his power. Snowball devotes himself to bettering the animals in intellectual, moral, and physical ways. He brings literacy to the farm so that the animals can better grasp the principles of Animalism by reading the Seven Commandments he paints on the barn wall.

-Lies and fraud: 
Animal Farm runs on pig fat and lies. By the end, "truth" has become so malleable that the animals can't even remember what actually happened. 
-Rules:
The animals get rid of an old set of rules just to find themselves oppressed by a new one. At first, new commandments and traditions are supposed to energize and unite the animals. But these rules don't adapt—especially because most of the animals don't read very well (and don't remember so good, either).
-Power being abused (in our book, Napoleon)

The revolution in Animal Farm has a lot in common with the real-life Russian Revolution. 
The story and language are very straightforward. 
Written in an elegantly simple style, Orwell uses the animals as a metaphor for the Russian Revolution itself. It shows how a people fight for freedom.
