After doing the experiment of sedimentation and decantation, I realised that how soil gets deposited at the bottom of the jar and the water accumulates above. Then when I pour the above water in a separate jar, the water appears clear, and the jar with the soil is left only with the precipitate.

In the other experiment of filtration, I found the major role of the strainer as how it helped in filtering the water from the mixture and then the water appeared clearer.

HOM - I applied 'Thinking Flexibly' as the habit of mind while performing the experiment. This habit of mind allowed me to use the different practical steps to learn the amazing scientific process, understanding it in a better way and gain knowledge.

After completing the experiment of sedimentation and decantation, I wonder how the soil got separated from water after few minutes of mixing it with water.

Also it was wonderful to see the process of filtering water from a mixture with a filtration tool so easily.

Thank you Mam for the interesting assignment :-)

I took a clear jar filled with water and added soil to it and left it for 10 minutes to rest, later i saw the heavy particles was settled at the bottom and the lighter particles were floating on top of the soil water. secondly i slowly filtrated the settled was and found the lighter particles was strained in the strainer. Third i again filtered the filtered water using funnel and clean strain cloth. I was shock and surprised seeing there was few more dirt left in the filtered water, At last when compared both the filtered water i noticed a light color change in both the water.
